The Minnesota gubernatorial race is currently in automatic recount territory (winning margin .5%) with less than 1% of the ballots outstanding.

If it holds, this will be the fourth or fifth such statewide race in the past couple of years; instant runoff voting would almost certainly have saved the State a few million dollars.

The body of US political decision which has been determined by statistical noise, these past couple of decades, is substantial and growing.

I am a total advocate for instant run off or some other preference voting system.
