i'm wondering if i've picked up some acquisition porn spyware. i'm really not sure what is going on. when i search, inevitably, something comes up as the exact search keywords used, separated by underscores, .wav. it is always 108.5 kb, and is a link to a porn site, with a nice lady saying nice things about me.

i've searched the archives, but this is a tricky one to find search words for. if i'm being redundant, please accept my apologies. is this a local thing, or something that i don't need to worry about?

just out of curiousity, is there any reputable mac spyware scrubber and/or anti virus/security package?

Sounds like a new program for you to write Porfiry, a Porn/Spyware/virus remover for a mac... The problem with that is I think (correct me if I'm wrong) you would need more occurances of Porn/Spyware/Viruses to make it worthwhile being a mac.

LittleSnitch is the best deterrant. At least you'll get alerted to it's trying to phone home. You can then block AND better identify what application is trying to do it.

i've never heard of anyone having spyware on their mac (friends, family and the 10k+ people on spymac), so i don't think it makes a whole lot of sense to write a program to remove it.

Why would you think this spyware is related to porn? ;)
