Are there any P2P programs that allow me to download music from without my college knowing what I am downloading? They claim to be able to catch most students within a day. I cannot find any online... maybe I am not looking hard enough.

You should buy a cheap $40 router. Most Routers act as firewalls and all your college sees when scaning the network is your router. :D Don't come running to me if u get caught though! and by the way Kaza sucks :p and will get you cought in a jiffy. Its cram packed with spywear that will tear your computer to bits so use aquistion! Its somewhere on this site! I hope this helps!

Acquisition is Mac only so don't get too excited if you are using Wintel or Linux. It's much less of a program issue than router issue as mentioned. Dial-up would be an alternative though  Although slow as hell.

PErhaps using a directconnectclient like DC++, set it to use port 80 to fool the firewall it is HTTP traffic and as there is no central supernode (like fasttrack etc) most IP adresses of the decentrilised hubs will not be on the blacklist of the firewall.

If your using a college connection then they will know because P2P's tend to use particular port numbers that will be "Flagged".

thats the main reason why some of the P2P's use port 80 to serve info from your own system, but again this is noticable from a network since it will appear as if a webserver is running on your PC.

Another method of capture is a Bandwidth limit, Namely your only allowed to download so much before your flagged. Now you might say "But I stay on for enough hours to make it use the bandwidth" but the flag would be raised if you were pushing the full speed of your connection constantly. (like 40kb per second and higher.)

If you want to transfer things about without the college knowing, you could potentially using an Encryption system, but the problem there is that particular countries have different methods of dealing with encrypted systems.

(For instance in the US, the agencies are legally allowed to use keyloggers to gain access to your machine, in the UK you are legally required to hand over encryption keys if asked.)

However you could possibly try IRC, but you might still be caught generating P2P connections to exchange files.
