I need a caddy for an Iomega 100 mb expansion zip drive for a g3 Wallstreet.

Anybody have a broken Iomega 100 mb expansion zip drive for a g3 Wallstreet that they don't need/want the caddy for? I will pay the shipping and I will send you a rubber chicken as well. Or we could work something else out.

    Props to Elbaz...

can you not just cannibalise an existing zip100?

I imagine I could but I don't have one. I bought the drive without realising it came without the caddy so it is off to the hunt. Pluss it is an expansion bay item so it is hard to find them to begin with.

Oh well, we live and learn. :bugeye:

when you say caddy, i picture a supporting container of plastic; something i could make up out of an ice cream tub. what do you mean by caddy?

the caddy is the stuff that goes between the powerbook and the drive. (a plastic middle man) The thing the drive sits in. So that it matches the shape of the powerbook. So out pops the cd drive and then in goes the zip drive. I Thought about using the cd caddy itself but it has different leads and won't (I think) serve my needs.

    Thanks for asking though.

right... i'm more with you now. i dont see why it would be too hard to adapt a cd caddy to carry the zip mech, but for the messing around it might be easier to buy a dead parallel port drive and replace the mechanism with yours..

It seems my troubles have been solved via ebay. Found an expansion bay zip drive and I bought it.
Now I will be sooooo ready when it breaks!

I was thinking about trying the cd bay conversion idea but then the auction went in my favor.

Next projet is more memory and maybe a new processor card.
