View Full Version : oh sheeet SwedishFish 02-29-04, 11:29 PM last minute clothing crisis: do i have to wear a bra to a job interview? KOE 02-29-04, 11:41 PM Depends on what your interviewing for. :) sargentlard 02-29-04, 11:45 PM Bra is a tool by the "MAN" to hold back the female sexuality and its wonders. It is a tool designed to lock away the desires to embrace the gift of sexuality....do not wear a bra, fight the conformity, do not succumb to their communist tendencies and ways. No bra, exercise your freedom by not even wearing a shirt....let freedom hang lose and be proud of your rights... and take pictures of this courageous and patriotic act, preferebly in high resolution. SwedishFish 02-29-04, 11:56 PM er anyway, i sure hope not. don't have one. what about makeup? Xev 03-01-04, 12:04 AM Use lipstick to draw straight lines across your face, then walk into the interview, jump on the nearest table and yell: "I am a proud Geat warrior! Hire me or I shall burn your churches and take your women! HAIL TYR!" (Trust me, it works) Bells 03-01-04, 12:17 AM Swedishfish, if your boobs are hanging down past your bellybutton, ermmm a bra would be preferable or you could just tuck them into your pants or skirt. As for makeup, go for the shiny blue eye shadow and orange lipstick. Just think early 80's Boy George. But I must say, Xev's idea is brilliant. If you go with the native tribal theme, don't forget to put some feathers in your hair and hang some skulls around your waist (as a sign of your power and to show how many kills you've accumulated). If you want to make a truly great impression though, go dressed as though heading to a Star Trek convention... preferably as a Klingon. SwedishFish 03-01-04, 12:42 AM bells: seriously though, don't you have anything better to do? so does anyone have any real help they can offer? am i expected to wear makeup? besides a suit (cause i don't have one), what else could i get away with wearing? Bells 03-01-04, 12:53 AM bells: seriously though, don't you have anything better to do? Actually not right now, no. Hence why I'm here :). And on a serious note, it depends on what kind of job you're going for. If you're meant to look professional, then you'll need clothes that represent you as such. Make up is up to you. Just keep reminding yourself that less is more. Keep the clothing simple and clean. As for the bra, it's up to you. If you're more comfortable without one, then don't wear one. It's not a good look seeing a girl sitting there constantly adjusting her boobs or seeing her squirm if the underwire is sticking into her. Swedish, one would assume that you are old enough to decide for yourself and the only one who'd know what you should be wearing. PS. You could go dressed as Wonder Woman :D Xev 03-01-04, 01:26 AM SwedishFish: so does anyone have any real help they can offer? am i expected to wear makeup? besides a suit (cause i don't have one), what else could i get away with wearing? Umm - okay, this is a serious query and you couldn't figure out on your own to wear a bra. Depends on the job. For any job, show some effort - don't walk in with a t-shirt and jeans. You don't want to be thinking what you'd get away with wearing - you want to wear something professional. Bra - well that depends on whether you could get away with *not* wearing one. Etiquette would suggest that you wear one. Makeup - no, generally not required, then again I rarely wear it anywhere. Bells: It's not a good look seeing a girl sitting there constantly adjusting her boobs or seeing her squirm if the underwire is sticking into her. You know, if I had a time-machine one of the first things I'd do is prevent the invention of the underwire. Damn things are uncomfortable as hell. Morteza Olangui 03-01-04, 02:20 AM Hi swedishfish: Where do you live? What is the tradition in your place? What do others do? In Rome, do as the Romans do? Of course if this saying is against your values, do as your values ask you to do. If I were to employ you, after you showed up without a bra and your sexy boobs, if you are really a woman, I would not mind inviting you to dinner and a bed. You know what I mean. So take care! God bless. P.S. As for make-up, that makes women more beautiful and neat. Depending how much paint you use, and how skillful at using it you are. I love women who use make-up but not as a form to seduce men. So Good luck. So what if your interviewer is a female? Ha? cosmictraveler 03-01-04, 09:46 AM Dress for success as they say. If you really want the job try and put on the best you have and wear little makeup as possible. Good luck, hope you land the job if you really want it. :) Silverback 03-01-04, 09:06 PM I am with cosmictraveler on this one. However, I don't really know what kind of job you are going for. If it is "Hot dog on a stick" you could get away with jeans and a sweater. If it is a law office, they tend to require a higher standard of dress code. You have been there before? What do the other employees wear? Try to dress at the same level of standards. Makeup should stick to a natural appearance. As an aside, just as one man's perspective, a bra is a good thing. I am surprised you don't even own one. Have you ever owned one? Sorry if that is too personal, but you started this conversation. :) Eluminate 03-01-04, 09:34 PM I bet she is interviewing with a good pimp who will take her under his wing. A nice hooker she will make I ll bet good luck sweedish hope you enjoy the time on your back. Italiano 03-01-04, 09:57 PM Let your clothes represent you who are. NightFall 03-01-04, 10:41 PM ive really gotta disgree with some of the posts here. a job interview isn't about showing the ineer you and representing some message. its about conforming to respectable dark colors with no heavy patters and pretty little creases in the pinstriped pantlegs, while you put on a fake smile and sell yourself to the highest bidder. minimal jewelry a necklace or wedding ring are ok. dont wear a watch, it gives you the need to look at itwhich an interiewer could find to be very rude. if it is a job where you will be dealing with the public light makeup would be expected. wether you agree or disagree with the use of makeup and its contribution to a woman's beauty, it IS a part of presenting yourself and finishes off a proffessional look. a little mascara and natural sheer lipstick works. as for the underwire deal ive never had any pain issues.. maybe its a brand thing.. but i buy cheap. lol. im not one to use the delicate cycle very often so they dont last me very long. lol. SwedishFish 03-01-04, 10:44 PM thank you to those of you who gave me a real answer. no i don't even own one (it's a matter of comfort). it hadn't occured to me until late last night. i have already worked in the department and it's a pretty laid back university. the interviewers were wearing jeans. but i dressed up anyway: dress pants, dress shirt, sweater. no bra but you can't tell anyway. it doesn't really matter what i was wearing because *boooyah for being so damn qualified!!* apparently i'm even more qualified and have a more impressive record than the person who held the position for many years! yeah, i celebrated afterwards. :p  Silverback 03-01-04, 10:53 PM So you got the job? Congrats, SwedishFish! :) Xev 03-01-04, 10:57 PM Congratulations. lixluke 03-02-04, 12:48 AM Congratulations. Try going without underwear next time. Perhaps you'll receive a raise.;) SwedishFish 03-02-04, 12:53 AM equating underwear usage with sexuality = bullshit especially when the rest is covered down to the ankle and buttoned up to the neck yeah ok i got the job because my boss is a pervert not because i'm good at what i do i hate you all (sorry, just a little depressed) Dr Lou Natic 03-02-04, 01:51 AM Did you celebrate by fondling your unbridled and untamed mammaries? no? :( one_raven 03-02-04, 02:43 AM no bra but you can't tell anyway. Be thankful while you can still say that with a stright face. ;) People put too much emphasis on what to wear and how to look for a job interview. If you dress in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable you negatove body language will be SO MUCH louder than what you are wearing. I once went on an interview for a six-figure executive position at a huge financial institution wearing jeans and a dirt T-Shirt. I explained to the interviewer that I had just heard about the position a few hours ago and I didn't have time to go home and change. I got the job, and that wasn't the first time it had happened. As for make-up, even of make-up does make you look more physically attractive (which in many cases it doesn't in my opinion) what wearing less or none says about you is that you are self-confident and less concerned about trivial issues of materialism and more concerned with professionalism and getting the job done efficiently. Believe it or not, it's true. Any skilled interviewer will be much more concerned with your self-confidence and assuredness in what you are bringing to the table. Apparently you had enoughof that Sweedish. Good Job! And even if the still-perky-enough-to-not-require-a-bra boobs did help some, so what? That doesn't lessen or cheapen you. If anything, it lessens and cheapens your boss and makes it that much more likely that you will be able to take his position through the hard work, focus and professionalism that he is apparently lacking. :D The only thing that truly matters in an interview is your attitude. If you go in with the attitude that they want you and you are there for them to convince you to take their offer, you will almost always GET an offer. I rarely leave an interview without an offer, and I am severly lacking in education and somewhat lacking in experience. Self-confidence- that's all that matters. Congratulations on the new job. Bells 03-02-04, 02:53 AM equating underwear usage with sexuality = bullshit especially when the rest is covered down to the ankle and buttoned up to the neck yeah ok i got the job because my boss is a pervert not because i'm good at what i do i hate you all (sorry, just a little depressed) Congratulations SwedishFish :D .. At least I think congratulations are in order . SwedishFish, stuff your boss. You are obviously qualified for this position, otherwise you would not have applied. cosmictraveler 03-02-04, 07:40 AM Why not start your own business? You seem that you know enough to do so. Have you ever tried to go out on your own and try it out? Being self employed is a great way to do what you want and go where you like. Eluminate 03-02-04, 11:34 AM equating underwear usage with sexuality = bullshit especially when the rest is covered down to the ankle and buttoned up to the neck yeah ok i got the job because my boss is a pervert not because i'm good at what i do i hate you all (sorry, just a little depressed) thx for being depressed it helps people like me feel better about myself. Guyute 03-02-04, 12:15 PM Congrats! ;) Ozymandias 03-02-04, 06:56 PM Congratulations. I'm glad you made the job. :) rainbow__princess_4 03-04-04, 03:38 AM Are you gonna be a topless runway girl? If so... then yes, you do need it. |
