coming home one day I noticed a sign at the radio station right next door (literally a couple of metres away) it said caution: non-ionizing radiation. Can anyone tell me if I'm in some kind of danger or what the hell non ionizing radiation is? thanks for any replies

Laser emissions (below certain frequency/power limits) are non ionising. From a radio station it will be radio waves of course.

I'm sure a quick google will find more info that you need on the subject.

Ionizing radiation is light with a frequency high enough to knock electrons off of molecules, turning them into ions. This includes pretty much all light in the ultra-violet range and higher. Ionizing radiation causes all sorts of health problems, from sun burns to cancer. Non-ionizing radiation (visible light, infra-red, microwave, and radio) doesn't have any dangerous effects on living things, other than possible heating. Non-ionizing radiation can have all sorts of bad effects on sensitive electronics, which is probably why they were required to post a warning.

Edit: yep, I had hit the wrong thread.
