does anyone know the difference between Gen 1 Gen 2 and Gen 3 night vision. I am interested in the actual performance and specs.

When I was in the sevice, I had as part of my equipment, both a night scope for a rifle and a night vision telescope on a tripod. I can not tell you if it was 1st generation or not but I would assume so. I can tell you this. Staring though a night scope such as I had would give you a headache after about a half hour. You could read a book at night through one of these by the light of a cigarette ember with no moon up.
