View Full Version : newbie confused by forum?
I can understand some of the questions posted on this section of the forum, but chimps in planes? cat butts?
I guess I fail to see the scienctific reasoning behind the questions?
how does anyone decide what topics can get posted, yes I read the rules, so I think they are off-topic about chimps & cat's butts (a pet forum maybe?). so does anything go here? I have a few theories I want debated, to post later
also, did I miss the newbie page, with how to's?
FelixC...post about anything you want to post...try to bring in/squeeze in some sort of science explanation as lame as it sounds into your post
Ask questions about the site in site feedback. ;)

Welcome welcome, glad you are here:p
Captain Kremmen 04-16-08, 01:09 AM And pray tell us what is unscientific about cat butts.
(Or Felix Fundamenta, as we scientists call it)
And as for whether Ostriches could fly if strapped into
a leg-powered flying machine, this is a pure science question.
Spud Emperor 04-16-08, 01:14 AM What do you call catshit?
Felis scattus......( very scientific stuff)
weed_eater_guy 04-16-08, 02:19 AM Yes yes, welcome to sciforums, where the term "scientific" itself is not bounded by a mere single definition!

Felix means "happy"
felis is a cat-like animal
Felix does not like cats
allergic, itchy

my question started out in the science part, then got sent here
so when it says "science", its loosely translated to mean "sort of close, like sci-fi" ?
well ok, I can live with that
cosmictraveler 04-22-08, 08:25 PM Felix was a cartoon cat, did you know that?

NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!
:wallbang:
You still haven't got it.
As regards Felix. It means both happy and cat.
Felix felicis (p. 187) Latin for fortunate, lucky, or happy, but also the biological name for a cat. Felix is the nominative singular, and felicis is the genitive singular.
From Answers.com.
Latin found in the Works concerning the thaumatugical education of Mr Harold Potter.
NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!
1.You still haven't got it.
2.As regards Felix. It means both happy and cat.
3.Latin thaumatugical education .
1. ok, ok, seriousness is tolerated, expect anything
2. not happy right now, diffenetly not cat, don't hate cats, just allergic
3. is that Latin for magic?

yes, don't have to feed them, just replace the battery
did I telll you that I almost hate cats? I'm allergic, so I stay away
Stryder 05-08-08, 09:11 AM Bruce Sterling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_sterling) wrote an interesting Short Story called Maneki Neko in the Cyberpunk genre which utilised Felix the cat in a rather interested tail about how a type of social network could be used in your modern day life. It's not 100% on topic with Felix, but worth a gander if you get the chance to either find a published paperback or want to go the career criminal route and find a E-book online.
