I thought this was a perfect story, given the constant barrage of "Science constantly ignores evidence that disagrees with their pet theories!!!" lately.
Scientists find a possible link between blood vessel and nerve development, and come up with a great correlating hypothesis. Someone then does experiments to verify, and it turns out that they are most likely wrong.

Besides, the article itself is fairly interesting...long branching tube-like structures that perform different functions and seem to rely on different genes for development is fascinating in it's own right.
