View Full Version : new calender
ralph nader 02-16-03, 12:17 PM ok here is the deal:
I am considering re-creating the calender and making it a two months long. THe changes will involve going from January to June and July to December. The combined moths will be known as 1 and 2. There will be no names. This is easier than having the calender set up the way it is now.

pumpkinsaren'torange 02-16-03, 01:07 PM  moth#1 and moth#2?? ok.
Couldn't we have something prettier like Butterfly #1 and butterfly #2???
Nah.
This is better.
10 months numbered 1 through 10.
Odd numbered months have 37 days.
Even numbered months have 36 days.
In a leap year month 10 has 37 days.
Weeks are 10 days instead of 7.
This gives at least 36 weeks in a year.
There are 7 weekdays in a week and the weekends are 3 days.
In the 52-week system there are 261 weekdays and 105 weekend days.
In the 36-week system there are 256 weekdays and 110 weekend days.
The 36-week system is better since weekends of 3 days are far more useful than 2 days and there are 5 more weekend days in the year.
And how about 10 hours in a day with 100 minutes to an hour, and 100 seconds to a minute. This makes 1 new second = 0.864 old seconds.
There would be -
1,000 minutes in a day.
10,000 seconds in an hour.
100,000 seconds in a day.
Any takers?
Cris
Its been done.

On Radioactive Waves 02-16-03, 07:29 PM Super, Ralph! That means you've now been posting retarded shit here for over 5 years!
Q,
Thanks for the link. I had never seen that before.
I designed my stuff many years ago.
But have you seen anything on new calendars?
Cris,
It sounds like something written about in the book homonids.
It a prett good book to read when you are bored!
Cris - I remember reading somewhere that the metric time system and calender were once attempted to be used in France. It never caught on, obviously, as the rest of the world was not part of the experiment. It just became too difficult for international business.
That plus people just didn't buy it.
tyler,
Yup I wouldn't be surprised.
For such a scheme to succeed then it would have to be worldwide.
spuriousmonkey 02-17-03, 01:03 AM people...lets calm down and do some real thinking for a change.
we switch to a 4 day work week...
we keep monday, friday, saturday and sunday. Yes indeed, it will be weekend for half of the week. 2 days working, 2 days free!
sycoindian 02-17-03, 02:19 AM i say we scrap weekdays and just make it all weekends :D

then we might be forced to work in the weekends...people in control graduated in the school of partpoopers. Hence they will not stand for an all-weekend week. They might be stupid enough to swallow a 4 day week, with a 2 day weekend. That is if we promise them power, money and scantily dressed women.
