yeah, we're setting up a network for gaming so the only thing we really need is ethernet and ipx. well, here's a question i have.

is it possible to connect two ethernet LANs via a TCP/IP connection between two routers and make it transparent so it looks like one LAN? We all use DHCP, so it should work as long as there is only one DHCP yes? (this LAN is not connected to the internet)

    something like:

    ethernet LAN *----*router*----TCP/IP----*router/DHCP*-----*ethernet LAN

and will IPX flow through all of this?

the goal here is to utilize the routers as routers and maintain ONE LAN... one love... we'll be.. ooops sorry :m:

Sounds like you are putting together a VPN, virtual private network, which is how some link to a company's server via TCP/IP as if they were on the LAN. The ones I know are just not practical for gaming when mixed with straight LAN stations due to the difference in access speed. Though I use them, I haven't really learned how to set them up. We had serious fragging parties when I worked at www.gamepc.com but we were all on the same immediate LAN.
