its time to play Name That Planet!
the new tenth planet has not been given a solid name yet (other than 2003 UB313)

not a real brain buster thread here, just some opinion.

so, what do you think the new planet should be named?

Why not stick with the Greek mythology theme, and call it Persephone?

Persephone is good. Or what about Bluto? Nah, too much confusion would ensue.

How about Hermes? Or is that already taken?

Maybe Aphrodite?

I like Aphrodite. Yes. Aphrodite.

My vote goes to Nox, primordial goddess of night. And planets are named after roman gods. Moons are named after greek gods.

A little. But aren't we all? A little bit?

I like this one too. 12th planet? Sumerian myth?

God dammit, I think I've made another new friend!!! Hee Hee. Anyway, I like it too for some reason. Must be the thrillseeker in us.

It could be named this way after Lilah, the daughter of the discoverer

Hum,
Seems that `Lila', and 'Xena' are not the names suggested to the IAU…

Mike Brown has updated his website about 2003UB313, and added some information about the other two big TNOs as well.

Well, if you want to go with a Roman deity, then Prosperine (the Roman equivalent of Persephone).

Moons are not always named for greek deities. For example, all of Uranus' moons are named after characters in Shakespeare plays.

I like the name Nox. I could easily see that as the name of the 10th planet.

*And Janus58, on a very immature note I'd like to point out that you have no idea what my anus' moons are named thank you very much.*

The planets are named after Roman gods, not Greek. We already have an Aphrodite– Venus.

Just call it "Lesbos" and be done with it. Perhaps it will arouse as many snickers as Uranus.

why not call it charun, it's a bit confusing with the moon of pluto, but Charon is the first one you met in the aftherlife if you can pay the price 2 coins on the eyes(/or in this case a fasther then light engine) you can cross the river to the aftherworld, (or go on to the next star in this case).
I always tought that Acheron would have been a much nicer name for the oort cloud

The moon Charon could then be renamed to cerberus, wich was pluto's dog .
