View Full Version : muscle strength in over 70's.
EmptyForceOfChi 05-23-07, 03:46 PM i read an article this morning in 'the london paper' and it said scientific tests have been carried out for a study on muscle age and strength.
it concluded that gym workouts and weight training, with people between the age of 65-70 seemed to rebuild the muscle tissue at a molecular level, and after weeks of gym workouts the 70 year olds muscles under the microscope seemed as young as there 20-30 year old counterparts.
they claimed it actualy had an anti-ageing effect and more studies are now bieng carried out, after the shock of this report.
peace/

They are: Luecina, IsoLuecina, & Valina (Portugese spellings) from my bottle of them in one pill in BCAA form. - Sort of expensive, and study shows they are mainly effective taken just before the workout. I am building house (all by myself) and take them when I start working on it - lifting cement blocks, mixing concrete is a good workout. (If I do not stop too much to watch birds, sail boats and jet skis on the lake it over looks) I have definitely noticed that over seventy you do get weaker, but this and swiming helps keep fit.
Which london paper or better still do you have link?

haha no its actualy called "the london paper" i tried to make that clear before :) but i knew it would cause confusion.
i will try and google it up and get some links, i cant remember the university where the studies were held i know it begins with an O, maybe ontario? or something that sounds like that.
i used to work on a construction site its good for your body. aslong as you lift with your legs and dont strain your back,
i found creatine caps are good for endurance.i take 3 before a workout and 3 after.
peace.

Yeah, perhaps. But what about the joints? The bones? The cartilage? The internal organs? The skin? The fingernails? The hair? The genitals?
Old people are just like old cars, they just wear out. And sure, we can rebuild parts of them, but is it worth it? Not many people think so with old cars, because we keep building new ones to replace the old ones. And ain't that what we do with old humans? ...replace them with newer models.
Who wants some old fart with wrinkled up skin and failing organs ...with the muscles of a 20-yr old muscle man?
Even tho' I'm an old fart, I'm thoroughly convinced that the world would be better if people lived to about 50-55 years old, then died. Let the younger generation take over and do what they were meant to do.
