If you want to learn something new you might have to use another forum, certain individuals on this forum already know everything and they disrupt the forum interchange. Please refer to the following URL as a starting point on Solitons.

      http://www.kettering.edu/physics/drussell/Demos/Solitons/solitons.html

A Soliton is allowed to travel great distances in a non-linear medium when the dynamics of the wave structure allows an energy translation between the longitudinal and transverse directions. The original description of the wave was called the "wave of translation", which was a technically correct description.

Much of what is currently known about the propagation of solitons in various mediums began with experiments in the 1960s. Photonics researchers are creating electromagnetic waves with both transverse and longitudinal components, and this permits data transmission at greater distances error free.
