Lol, it is a joke that I use a lot ( I don't say flesh wounds build character, but for things that would cause flesh wounds for example a fight, I call it character building sometimes ). He said it when I scraped my knee once after I slip when I slid to go for a volley ( it was on concrete outside, when the pump for the tennis dome broke ).
