Dude, don't go away mad. I think we're both very passionate about the issue regarding smoking; we're simply at opposite ends of the pole. I would hazard a guess that we would agree on other issues given the chance. So, that being said, I hope we meet again on the forums. Maybe we will find some common ground where we can agree.

Universal healthcare is bad for very simple reasons. It sounds great: "Hey, free healthcare!". But it just means that the government will be babysitting us; it is one more step closer to the welfare state that is free of personal responsibility.

It also means higher taxes, and a higher burden on the wealthy; it also means more spending, and a distortion of the market and it is a violation of the Constitution.

Personal responsibility is more important. If you want to help people afford health care, then YOU can go and organize privately and create a charity to do so; that's far, far more moral and more superior.

What next? Universal cable? Universal chocolate milk? Perhaps the moronic Europeans don't care about autonomy, but America was founded on libertarian principles of freedom and autonomy.

If people want free health care so much, they can pay for it themselves without forcing everyone to pay into it or accept it.
