"God gave us free will... what could be more reasonable than that.???" What could be more reasonable? Think about freedom and volition. Are either of those attributes transferable? Can they be owned or given to another? No, will is part of a living organism; freedom is a natural condition. Freedom can be taken away by imprisonment or subjugation; the will can be broken, twisted, damaged. But the free will of one entity is never the property of another entity; it's in nobody's power to give or take. It could be more reasonable to accept the characteristics of someone you love and not interfere with them. It would be reasonable to respect them and refrain from punishing them for who and what they are, from demanding obedience or requiring them to mutilate their children's reproductive organs.
Because that's what God is supposed to be: the creator of the whole universe; the owner of all souls; the lender of life. Previous gods were more modest in their claims; you could bargain and argue with them; this one -Big Omni, the one they all talk about nowadays - is unique in his unreasonableness.
What's up tim...I'm glad to see you're still around, though I miss seeing ya post. Then again, I don't post anymore either. I hope all is well with you...
I touched you by PM :-)
Hiya Tim... I hope all is well with you. I miss having you around. I tried going to that other site, but had too many probs trying to post, and gave up...lol keep in touch!
Happy New Year! Come Back. Fight for the right to bad spelling. Clueless. I never worked out whether your writing was some problem with spelling. If it is how you write, couldn't you come back. I can't see how the Mods could reject your posts if it has a proper cause. Maybe you could PM JamesR and explain. I did enjoy your posts.
I love you, cluelesshusband.
However, nothing happens in a vaccuum down here. No choice is uninfluenced. No choice is consequence-free. We are free to make our choices and pay as we go. And sometimes, random chance takes choice away from us, this is true.
"I cant emagine how the chain of cause an effect can be broken in such a way that equates to free will..." It's free within a framework. You are predisposed to do some things. Consequences arise. We're in physical reality. I'm open to reason because I didn't really have a preconceived position, and no big axes to grind. But I do very firmly believe in responsibility for one's actions, as I'm the product of one man's refusal to take responsibility for his. I therefore take responsibility for mine, and guilt. So to me the idea of no free will seems both repugnant and counterintuitive.
Why do you want to have this discussion here and not in the thread? ------- Free will is a very interestin subject... an the reason i prusue it wit you is... unlike som others in the thred you seem open to reason... but dew to hents from 2 mods that i will be baned if i continue to post wit my bad spellin an grammer (if i had to fix it postin woudnt be fun for me)... i choose not to post in the threds so i can still partisipate in a limited way such as PM's (wit my frinds) an visitor messages.!!!
