---------- No, the simple electrolysis of a saline solution cannot produce atomic sodium and chlorine. It will produce other compounds - namely sodium hydroxide and HCL (hydrochloric acid). Commercially, metallic sodium is produced by the Down's process and the chlorine is a byproduct. Here's a quick read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downs_cell ---------- How pure would t he HCl be during the electrolysis of salt water? Would it be fair to slowly pump the water off during electrolysis, or maybe partition the innermost portion of it off? Maybe freeze it during electrolysis... Thanks for helping a noob :D:o
Hey man, things are getting a bit hot in the crime and punishment thread. Why are you so down on Asguard? I'm guessing there's some history there? He's just a kid, isn't he? Respect, Pete
finally getting rain here to. I think there was a period where it rained every day for a week straight.
Yep, I just got tired of all the woo-woos like Bishadi and a few others. So I stayed away a full half-year. :) How's things in your part of Georgia? Still raining a lot over here in the mountains.
