Would you take a look at my latest thread and comment on it please? I'm not sure that there are many here who will get it bar yourself and say Rav, but maybe a contributor of your calibre could help get the ball rolling a little. http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?115282-Critiquing-the-enlightened

I warn you it is a bit of a dig at everyone, but the philosophical position I am trying to forge (as a new term/type of position) Non-fixedism is an interesting though highly confounding idea even for I who conceive of it (or not as the case may be; hard for me to pin down); your take on it would be much appreciated :)

Hi SciWriter. Fully enjoy reading your insight. Curious to know more about who you are and some of your general beliefs and perspectives...do you have published works out in the world of literature? Or blogs or something of that nature?

i hope you do not mind but i noticed you mention your books on amazon, and left your name whilst speaking to arkonos onhere. so i did a search and saw your back catalogue. obviously you are a pretty prolific writer. i was just wondering if you have ever written a novel?

Perhaps you're right, but like you said, with technology these days its not knowledge that I don' have access to, it's wisdom. Of course, this forum may play host to some brilliant minds, but I fear that there are those who are knowledgeable and those who are wise and that sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the two.

Of course, Nick, but you do seem to know much of the basics, which is what counts, and especially being in school keeps them fresh. Wish I could remember all that I knew in college, which certainly helped me move up fast in the Army when was drafted in '71, even into the DIA, but now we have Google, and so I don't have to remember what I forgot. SciForum is my newest school of learning. Some sharp people here.

      (Part 2)

I have used many different internet forums and one of the forums I frequent has a Discussion board, which mostly has topic that require a discussion, but every now and then I am intrigued by a question of a philosophical nature. Today I decided that I wanted to be on a forum where every thread was like that, so I started googling and found this place.

I feel as though I have a lot to learn but also a lot to offer the world and I also feel as though a like minded mentor would benefit me greatly. Perhaps you would be able to fill such a position?

Well, I am very glad to meet you Austin.

My name is Nicholas Garside, but I prefer Nick. I am 18 and only just last year finished high school. I live in Australia. I have only recently joined the Army Reserves and am at university doing an enabling course for people who didn't do well enough to study the degree that they wanted to. I have only recently, as of 6 months ago, started to learn about philosophy and I have always been into science. I am interested in a variety of things, which mostly allows me to be able to talk to most people about something they also have an interest in, regardless of who they are.

I reported that useless chipz guy.

      As did I :)

I read the forum rules and although I was not bothered by his remark, I did believe that his comment would lead to the thread being derailed which isn't exactly productive for intelligent thought.

I may be new to this forum, but not forums in general.

You, on the other hand, seem to be a very intelligent individual and you seem to know a lot about many of the topics that are discussed at this forum.

Do you mind telling me some of your background?

Also, until I post 20 times, I cannot reply to PMs from members.
