mechanics and physics

  1. Ok I just need to get this straight in my head. Does Classical mechanics=regular physics and quation mechanics=quatum phyics? (= meaning they are the same thing)

    Mechanics is the area of physics to do with forces, motion and energy - how objects move and interact. That distinguishes it from other areas like optics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism etc.

    Classical mechanics is mechanics treated according to Newton's laws of motion (or, equivalently, Lagrangian or Hamiltonian methods).

    Quantum mechanics is mechanics treated according to the laws that govern quantum physics (e.g. the Schrodinger equation for non-relativistic quantum mechanics).
