    Hello
    I have double problem here:
    1) I lately tried to install Mcafee Firewall in my system. It was successfully installed, but now everytime after restarting my system, it stupidly stops some useful programs to connect to the internet; one being my IMS. Even though I've allowed those programs to connect to internet, that stupid firewall still block them and I finally throw the firewall away.
Actually, how can I configure the Firewall so that it WILL NOT block the programs I have allowed to access the internet? I think I need firewall to block viruses and unauthorized accesses, but what happened is that it irritates me terribly....
    2) Is it true that installing two antiviruses (of diff. comp. of course) in one system will cause problem?
    Thanks

Firstly, make sure that if your using a third party firewall on XP, make sure you turn OFF XP's own firewall since there is the potential that the two will conflict.

As for using multiple different anti-virus programs, there can be problems if one detects the changes made by the other one.

for instance if one checks your drives, and then the other does the same and notices any record changes or ram use. Just turn them off auto-test and run them both manually.

I use the McAffee firewall/anti-virus. In the firewall, go to pick a task and then choose Internet access and choose which progams you will allow access. Do like Stryder says and use both programs from one manufacturer, it will be a lot easier. You can get both McAffee firewall/anti-virus for about $20. In my personal experience, I have found that McAffee firewall did not play well with my DSL, I use Win2k. With a cable modem it seems to work fine, don't know why.

Huh? XP has firewall? How does it work (automatically or else) and how can it be modified?
