i just installed it on a p3 500 w/64 meg and 8.7 HD. Optiplex gx1

it said something about being low on resources when it started, but the install went smooth after that.

i don't even know how to get the gui loaded or, it didn't work when I tried it. I check some page and rifled through a bunch of commands

When it was in setup I think I told it to automatically load some gui type thing but it seemed like it got screwed up. i went back through the graphics settings a couple of times during setup and might have screwed something up.

what's a brother supposed to do?

I'm figuring I'll reinstall once more.

Might want to add a bit of memory to that thing if you intend on using resource heavy windowmanager.

You wouldn't have such problems with a custom install of gentoo or slackware. Personally, I'd put vector on that machine(unless you know how to do a custom slackware install). Gentoo as a second choice.

If you're running KDE, tone down eye candy or switch to another window manager such as icewm or xfce.
