i hated these subjects in high school and consequently am not good at them. now i'd like to learn or try to learn about them; excercise for the brain sorta thing. if any of you have any tips on where i can go on the internet or any books that are good i'd appreciate it. thanks.
Honestly, it's very difficult for anyone to teach themselves advanced mathematics or physics. You almost have to have help from people who already know it. The best way, of course, would be to enroll in some university classes. Anything else that you do will likely produce far lower returns in knowledge gained vs. the amount of time that you put into it. If you want to be able to do better than simply reading popular pop-sci books like 'A Brief History of Time,' I would suggest calling your local university or community college.
I'm not saying it's impossible for someone to teach themselves advanced mathematics or physics, as there are a few examples of people who've been able to do it (Wolfram comes to mind) but it's outside the ability of the vast majority of people, even mathematically gifted scientists.
