 I am doing a case study on Pres. George 'dubya' Bush's speeches, more specifically post 9/11 and all speeches leading upto the invasion of Iraq. I am looking at how he built support for his cause, how he depicted the 'suffering iraqis' and that 'demi-devil' saddamiser, and more importantly how he pulled the fleece over the enitire american population.
commentary, input?

Misleader.org (http://www.misleader.org/daily_mislead/archive.asp?more=true) is one good place to start, ditto disinfopedia (http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml?title=Bush_administration_propaganda_an d_disinformation). Here's an October 2001 Guardian article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4270014,00.html) on the subject. You can also search (http://www.sciforums.com/search.php) scifora for reactions by date. If you have something specific for comment, it should be simple to elicit some here.
very helpful and insightful, although i would like someone to discuss language/rhetorical techniques and how he uses examples of victims families such as the CIA interrogator, mike spann was it? anywho I think 'dubya' is a complete coward, and milks the tragedies of hardworking americans and civilians alike.

Another source that calls both sides to the carpet, and the
press as well, is Spinsanity (http://www.spinsanity.org). They might be of some interest to you.

PropagandaCritic (http://www.propagandacritic.com/) has a wealth of material on this subject. There is good satire of the Bushmen's propaganda at Bush-Orwell '04 (http://www.gwbush04.com/archives/000274.php), and all kidding aside, you may find some comparison with George Orwell's visions of diabolical propaganda worthwhile. As for real-life nightmares, Hermann Goering's comments (http://fuller.mit.edu/peace/war_goering.html) to interviewer Gustave Gilbert are, dare I say, extremely honest, if a little over-used of late (I've been guilty of wearing it out myself).
I don't think anyone should hesitate, as Goofyfish seems to suggest, to be quite critical and alarmed at the methods of the present Bush Administration. Careful historical comparison will show, as will history itself, that the deceit of this Administration goes well beyond partisanship: It goes beyond fundamental American principles of democracy, no matter what your political affiliation. Consider "both sides", but understand we are not talking about conservative-liberal, or anything else, but only lies and the truth: These are the only two sides in this matter.
We are being misled in a very similar way as was Germany in the 1930s- But don't take my word for it- do the research.
