It's a somewhat distrubing fact that most people in the U.S. become "functionally literate" by using the "see and say" method of reading. In essence, they read by seeing the words as units rather than as groups of letters. Similar words are differentiated by context. For more detail, look up "Why Johnny Can't Read" by Rudolph Flesch.

I was able to read the first post, but I had to avoid concentating too hard on it (I used to do a lot of proofreading, and misspelled words tend to catch my attention).

I would expect forum members to be better at deciphering that post than average, since so many posters tend to misspell and/or transpose letters in words either through haste or because their native languages hamper their understanding of english spelling because they are far more logical.

I wonder if somebody will write a book full of misspelled words or jumbled words. I wonder if your mind becomes more acute or processes faster if you get used to reading misspelled words. Thus sciforums life begins. My mind is great after being here awhile. Just joking, I misspell as much as the next person. I probably misspelled something in this psto.
