Post-Traumatic-Stress Disorder afflicts millions of people and ruins lives.
Now imagine you could stop all that with just a jab in the neck...

The Pentagon has conducted a ( woefully) small trial of its' own:

One patient required a repeat treatment; however, both were able to discontinue antidepressant and antipsychotic use.

I have big hopes for this.

It would be a boon to many people... if it becomes available to them in the foreseeable future, and if it has no regrettable side-effects, like chronic renal inflammation or progressive amnesia. One other concern i have is whether this treatment will be restricted and/ or prohibitively expensive, and therefore unavailable to the civilian victims of brutality in other countries.

As of right now, that doc is charging $800 for this procedure. I imagine it requires waivers and such too.
I'm thinking...cheap flight to chicago from here, another $200...or maybe drive up.
Considering how much I've spent on therapy over the years...might be money well-spent?
    (Sh!t, instant normality? duuuude...)

I actually think, provided it works, it will make treatment far more accessible to poor people when it becomes more widely available.
If I were not getting my happy pills through the gub'mint, I would be shucking out about $100 a month. In 8 months, that procedure would pay for itself.

However, I note it is being used on "fresh" cases of PTSD. It remains to be seen if it would have as good an effectivity on long-standing cases of PTSD, or dissociative disorders stemming from trauma (Which IS PTSD, just the spacey and disconnected end of it...you either become hyperfocused or you "go away.")

Messaged the doc, will see if there are any trials closer to home.

I was talking to a Vietnam Vet just the other day who went through this type of PTSD therapy and he was really happy with the results. He said for the first time in years he felt good and at peace. His therapist wis at VA center here in upstate NY. I was impressed that the VA would try something that was rather experimental.
