does anyone know if the theory of the holographic universe is linked to string theory? although they seem different, mainly due to their detailed components, they do seem strangely familiar. they both consist of quantum physics as a key structural point. does anyone else see this parallel? could the "hologram" simply be also stated as the "strings" in which this universe lies?

nobody has an opinion on this?

I do not believe in either theory.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of string theory, but based on what I have read so far, the holographic and string theories are by NO means mutually exclusive. The holographic universe seems to "exist" (is that even the right word?) on a level below, perhaps even far below, the string level. That is to say, string, especially superstrings, are merely another form of (holographic) information that can be derived and processed by the human brain, which itself, in turn, may indeed operate on holographic principles as well (according to work of Priber and Grof).
I am still researching this, but so far I stumbled onto this Scientific American article (http://www.hlhologram.com/Holographic%20Universe.htm) that goes a little bit into the merging of the two theories. It also contains a lot of stuff about information entropy and black holes being interpreted as a kind of experimental and mathematical evidence for the holography theory.
The holographic theory of the universe is breifly mentioned in Brian Green's book "The Fabric of the Universe" and he says, it is not generally acceptet but it may, or may not, merge with the M theory. (String M theory)
