I have a wpd file saved on flopy disk
(written by someone else on a different computer) and when I try to read it I get
too large for notepad msg,
when I open it with word pad all it shows is some weird symbols and squares

I can only open and read this file in Quick view but am unable to save copy or edit etc.
what am I doing wrong??

If I'm not mistaken wpd is a word perfect file format. Most word processors should be able to open it, try MS Word or OpenOffice.
