Wolfgang Petersen's Enemy Mine.

A brilliant film with a great plot and a good liberal political message. Dennis Quaid is great and Lou Gossett Jr is superb.

The Thing is a classic if you haven't already seen it.

Yeah, Enemy Mine is good. Forgot that one.

Wow, you've seen Screamers, that was a good film

Enemy Mine is very good.

What about The Day The Earth Stood Still?

Or just buy the Farscape Best Of Season One DVD. Some very good eps on that.

P.S. What about Predator? That movie still scares the hell out of me.

SAVE FARSCAPE!!! (sorry had to do that)

Right, if you can get past the cheesiness, try 'Dog Soldiers'. Pretty good film, but very unrealistic. ie, the Warewolves take at least 20 shotgun shells to the head and still don't die

The Globe is an okay movie. The first 2/3 of the movie is really good, but the last 1/3 is really weak and lame.

Yep wayyy better then South Park.

Hey Thor do you remember when they did the Parody of Pulp Fiction? That was so funny.

Or the parody of Apocalypse now?

I always like the scientists who said "Well Jib we finally got the Hubble Space telescope working." HIlarious.

The Thing.... is that the movie with the (3mph) walking "tree" turning native Indians to stone? 1960?

Signs was pretty good.... though not in a sci-fi kind of way.

I've once seen this movie about a commando unit sent to some island to kill an alien who had been stranded there. The Alien had turned insane because of experiments the govt had done on his partner. Deep and insightfull movie.

yes - in some way

According to Douglas Adams, there are 5 ways to leave the planet:

1. Phone NASA. Their phone number is (731) 483-3111. Explain that it's very important that you get away as soon as possible.

2. If they do not cooperate, phone any friend you may have in the White House - (202) 456-1414 - to have a word on your behalf with the guys at NASA.

3. If you don't have any friends at the White House, phone the Kremlin (ask the overseas operator for 0107-095-295-9051). They don't have any friends there either (at least, none to speak of), but they do seem to have a little influence, so you may as well try.

4. If that all fails, phone the Pope for guidance. His telephone number is 011-39-6-6982, and I gather his switchboard is infallible.

5. If all these attempts fail, flag down a passing flying saucer and explain that it's vitally important you get away before your phone bill arrives.

DOUGLAS ADAMS
Los Angeles 1983 and London 1985

but I'm having some problems with catching the saucer
any help would be appriceated

thnx

------------------------------------
btw- I'm also thinking of getting movie- Nosferatu (the one made in 1920s)

Thor

The Thing is the one with the alien that can turn into any living organism it comes into contact with. It sorta lands in the artic cirlce near a research facility. People die, horribly. The Thing takes form of some of the people and no-body knows who the thing is. And thats all I'm gonna tell you.
Its quite scary, more of a psychological thriller than a sci-fi film, but its worth the watch.
I believe it was remade with Kurt Russel a few years back (early 80's I think)

Yeah thing, the head turns into a spider at the end...

That/it ... I have seen something like that but with mutated worms. Not that they got superpowers, but they just wouldn't stop eating stuff.

Tremmors, more then great. If you watch them in the right order...

Aliens... only 2 was good. I haven't seen 4.

Robocop doesn't fit in...........?

How about series?

Avatar
10-29-02, 01:02 PM
4 is as good as 2 - My 2 favourite Aliens
suggest you to see it

no- no episodes. It's hard to get them all on net first
and second- I don't enjoy episode- they're usually worse than movies

oh- I forgot to mention my favourite sci-fi movie STARGATE

Thor
10-29-02, 01:13 PM
Ressurection isn't as good as Aliens. Nowhere near as good

Tremors, you've gotta be kidding me. The one with the worms. Its terrible

Stargate is great. Though I like the show better than the film

adunguem factus homo
10-29-02, 01:15 PM
SG was pretty good... though I prefer the series...

How about (the) Terminator(2)?

The more recent startrek movies were good...

"Tremors, you've gotta be kidding me. The one with the worms. Its terrible "

They were wicked. Nominee for best sequal as well...

Avatar
10-29-02, 01:25 PM
don't agree with the Aliens 4 being worse than 2, although Aliens 2 is more classic.

I like Stargate film better

If that's the same film about worms (they un from then on a large moving platform that is ridicilously slow but is too lare for them to sink it into dunes) I liked it. Was quite entertaining.

adunguem factus homo
10-29-02, 02:25 PM
Oh man, you have got to see Tremmors 2 then. They get invited to fight the bastards in Mexico. The elephant-gunman goes shopping in the ammo storage of the Mexican army. The atmosphere changed a bit, as did the landscape :)

shinobi
10-29-02, 02:25 PM
The giant ant film was called Them!

Tremors is a great film.

The Man Who fell To Earth and Starman both have aliens in, but aren't action films.

Dark City doesn't exactly fit your description, but it's a great film and worth getting.

there were two other sci-fi space movies.

One was about this 80's looking guy who cares about his plantations in space and when the rest of the crew decides to let the plantations burn in Jupiter's atmosphere to escape, he kills them but saves his garden.

Than another film where a couple comes to a lost spaceship with a SOS signal, they come inside and find a man working there only later to find out that it is a robot.

Saturn 3

Two alternative food researchers (Farrah Fawcett and Kirk Douglas) stationed in the rings off Saturn work in romantic and professional bliss until their perfect lives are disrupted by the intrusion of Benson (Harvey Keitel), sent to speed up the scientists’ work. But Fawcett’s looks and charm ensnare the captain, creating a tense threesome. Or is it foursome? Keitel’s homicidal and lusty robot, Hector, also falls for Fawcett, and when Fawcett spurns both Keitel and his robot, the two scientists find themselves running for their lives. Filmed in the years after George Lucas’s STAR WARS captured audience’s imaginations with its gutsy adventure, SATURN 3 doesn’t have the subtlety or nerve-ripping horror of Ridley Scott’s ALIEN but does use devices from ALIEN and other noteworthy films to create an outer-space thriller for sci-fi fans. Readers of Martin Amis will be interested to see the novelist’s skills displayed in his first screenplay.

"Ghost of Mars" has a badass robot? No you're thing of "Red Planet".

I should know I worked on “Red Planet” Tom Sizemore and Val Kilmer were having a feud. Yelling “You’re a F***King Prick" to each other, and making threats as they walked to their cars.

What was the one that came out recently? I saw the preview in theaters a few months back. Aliens were invisible, but they'd kill people by absorbing them into electricity or something liek that? I remember that a crew of 20-somethings were running around New York, or some other big city and had figured out a way to see them? The big impact point in the preview was the aliens absorbing a cop and a dog, just turning them into dust.
