This thread is for the purposes of recognizing a creeping disease that is infecting the lives of many people. I’m no doctor, but it worries me to see this apparent sickness day in and day out, haunting the lives of many as they interact with us, possibly infecting their neighbours, friends, and family. What’s more, it is much more prevalent amongst the so-called Reformed Thinkers – particularly Calvinists, but not always. I am calling this horrible disease the “Full-of-myself-for-no-good-reason” disease (or AiI for short, for “Arrogance-in-Ignorance”). The symptoms include:

(1) Stupidity – and this should encompass:

(A) Knowing something but pretending not to know it so that you can continue arguing that your position is true.
(B) Not knowing something but pretending to know it – i.e. pseudo-intellectualism.
(C) Not knowing something and not caring about not knowing it when it is crucial to an argument that your opponent is putting forth on a topic.
(D) Knowing something and acknowledging it but twisting what it really means so you can avoid how it hurts your position.
(E) Being really unintelligent in general.

(2) Arrogance About Being Stupid – displaying a conceited and scornful attitude in light of the quality of one’s arguments as discussed in (A)-(E). This includes but is not limited to:

(A) Insulting opponents for no good reason
(B) Mocking opponents for no good reason
(C) Applauding one’s own argument [for no good reason] – i.e. ego-stroking.
(D) Having a generally arrogant disposition and displaying at least one of the symptoms discussed in (1).
(E) Acting generally superior in knowledge and/or status toward your opponent and displaying at least one of the symptoms discussed in (1).

Now, I’m sure many of you have come across at least a few people who you suspect may be infected with this horrible disease. In this thread, we’re going to diagnose a number of such people, and then submit our findings to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention http://www.cdc.gov/ to help them quell the threat of this rising pestilence.
it's a Pity this disease is not painful.

Can't pretty much everyone you disagree with be symptomatic of this?
