This might help people cope as they grieve the loss of loved ones, but could it hinder healing? I’m not sure how I feel about it. What do you make of this idea? https://nypost.com/2022/06/23/amazons-alexa-will-mimic-dead-loved-ones/
I'd be more interested in talking to the personalities of my dead loved ones than their actual voices. More like ELIZA than Alexa. Mind you, I have zero interest in Alexa anyway.
That idea might capture a wider audience actually, than voice impersonations of dead relatives. Agree. Not seeing a need to ever have a “digital seance.” Sounds morbid, in my opinion. “Grandma, find my playlist.” Just no.
It reminds me of people who stuff their dead pet so it looks like they're sleeping and keep it in the living room.
It reminds me the guy who became paralized after some injury. He could only use some computer generated text (like Stephen Hawking) to speak with his familly at home. An engineer specialised at voice generation wanted to help him and used samples of his voice he had before his accident. Now, the computer generated text sounds amazing, like before (with his accent and so on) say his wife. Their children on the other place were surprised because they never really heard his real voice and for them "the computer voice" was associated with his personality. Like for Stephen Hawking, if someone hear the computer voice he immediatly recognize "his" voice. If the creation of such computer generated voice can become more easy to get it is some progress, in my opninion.
Was my first reaction and I stand by it As for a explanation as why I think it is stupid my brain is not giving me a answer to put down But I trust my brain. If it provides a answer will let you know Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! iß the best I can do sorry Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Did think more about why I put stupid It is along the lines of wasting the power of the computer doing something we don't really need Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Good thing I have no intention of ever using Alexa/Siri etc. My memories of dead loved ones shouldn't be tarnished by an AI.
Along the line of my thinking But I guess some people will use the ability offered in some fashion I'm also of the opinion, the feature will, sadly, be abused Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
