Putin is a puppet dancing on a string

You ever see Bergman's seventh seal?
At the end, everyone is dancing
and no one(excepting death) has a choice

    mind the tune
    It is played for you

Do you believe that there are consequences to decisions made like the decision you made by posting the above?

So, if Finland and Sweden decide for themselves to join NATO, you're saying it will be NATO's fault if Putin 'makes' the decision to invade them and kill their civilians in the thousands by bombing and shelling cities and towns?

Does this feel a bit like "rope a dope" with Russia destroying itself with it's own pointless ,though cruel expenditure of energy over victims who though they cannot help themselves directly** will not lie down?

Feels like momentous times.Hopefully we are approaching a tipping point in Russia .

We need Russia to be a full partner in the fight against climate change ,and soon

** their soldiers have the will but have needed to be given the means.

Exactly. It's like when a women wears sexy clothing and is raped. I mean, sure, the rapist bears some of the guilt for that. But why would she wear that clothing if she didn't want to be raped? I mean, what was she expecting? No one is blameless there.

Or when a woman is beaten in a domestic violence case. A lot of the blame definitely falls on the man beating her. But if she wasn't such an uptight nag, it might not have happened.

    Right?

^ Nothing to see there. Clearly just a small galley fire that got a bit out of hand. Definitely not damage caused by being hit by one or two missiles.

In other news, Poo-tin has given an honorary title to the brigade that were likely responsible for what are being investigated as war-crimes in the Bucha region, bestowing upon them the honorific "Guards" for the "mass heroism and valour, tenacity and courage" of its members.

maybe because soo many russian deaths
trying to please the mothers of the thousands of dead young russians boys who's lives have been thrown away by him.

when in reality there is dead civilians because the russians have come under attack and reacted by targeting civilians because they cant find the soldiers.

so russian soldiers have gone on serial killer rampages killing women and children while exterminating all the men they find in cold blood as captives
Russian military systematically murdering their civilian prisoners

conclusive evidence hundreds dead or missing and ship sunk from missile strike
(only 100 sailors in Russian media parade showing there is 400 sailors missing)

Very similar to the Russian Soldiers behavior during their march to Berlin during WW2. Not necessarily systematic or planned for but a very big part of the Russian Soldier culture, perhaps.
While no doubt USA ( Allies) troops had similar behaviors, they would have been quite rare (different cultural context) -ww2
Recently here we have had a tribunal/court case of an Australian Special services soldier being tried for executing a prisoner(s) in Afghanistan. I doubt the Russian soldiers responsible for the atrocities will ever be held to account. Honor and integrity are not their strong point...

From my experience. I would hazard the guess that that is most likely true of all militaries, and maybe especially so of conscript(draft) militaries. It was certainly true of our (mostly draftee) military during the VietNam era.

    A little background:
During WW2 a major and his team did a forensic analysis of the German dead on a battlefield, and discovered that only about 10% of our guys were doing all of the killing.
    Damned inefficient.
Imagine if only one out of 10 bullets would fire---that's probably a fairly easy thing to fix.
OK so you have one in 10 soldiers hitting the enemy.
    Possible causes
    defective weapons
    poor marksmanship
or perhaps most soldiers do not want to kill the enemy
    so
check the weapons---Not the problem(though, i found the m1 carbine to be about worthless as tits on a boar)
OK Lets work on improving marksmanship
and that helped---a little bit---not enough
so we are left with the mind
Most people are not natural born killers---that is usually frowned on in a civilized society.
Ok then, how to break down the mind of a civilian and rebuild it as the mind of a killer of men?
Brutality is the quickest way to alter a mind.
Just keep at it until you have a battalion of men ready to kill
then dehumanize the enemy---call them slopes, gooks, chinks, etc...
and that helped ---a little bit more
and still the number of misses was larger than the number of hits
what is a military to do?
At the beginning of basic training you shoot at targets that look like targets.
Then, as your mind is altered, you shoot at targets that look like silhouettes of men
and that helped---a little bit more
and still the number of misses was larger than the number of hits
    gee darn
This problem just would not go away
and in Vietnam many would do what was called spray and pray(empty a clip)
Even lousy shots can hit the occasional enemy if enough led is sent downrange
    (but, we lost that war)

I suspect that marksmanship is difficult to master for adults
I suspect that many things are best learned at certain stages of development

Unfortunately in the process of remaking the mind, many problem solving skills are lost
much like poor Draco----who in exasperation came up with "many crimes---one punishment"---death

    war sux
