The coronavirus response seems somewhat suspicious.

While it's almost certainly far higher than the 5.2m currently estimated as global deaths, I think 38 million is perhaps over-cooking it. I'd plump for a round 20-million thus far.

If you use "excess deaths" as a reasonable proxy, the US has suffered c.830k excess deaths since the start of the pandemic, at least per: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/cumulative-excess-deaths-covid?country=USA~RUS~MEX~BRA~IRN~PER
Only a minority of countries actually have these stats, though, so can only give a guide.

I also think looking at the "rate of omacron" (I think you mean Omicron) is premature. There is not yet enough data to know if it is (a) any more virulent; (b) any more lethal; (c) affected by the vaccine to a greater or lesser extent. All we really know so far is that it has a large number of mutations compared to other variants.

Please do. And keep in mind you would be doing it not just for yourself, but for those around you who might be more likely to get severely ill from the virus than you yourself.

I can tell you, from my own experience of catching it last year, that even if you get it mildly, as I did, it can be rather unnerving. I lost all sense of taste and smell for a fortnight and began to fear it had gone for good. (With some people the loss is indeed permanent.) It took another 6 weeks for it to come back fully. And I found any form of physical exercise made me exhausted for about a month, too.

And I was one of the lucky ones. This virus is no joke. There are millions of people who have officially "recovered" but are still suffering after-effects, often quite debilitating ones.

Currently going through that now... caught it last week - even though I've rarely been out in the past couple of weeks, and always shop with a mask. Plus double vaccinated. Had bad flu-like symptoms for a couple of days, and light symptoms for the past 4 or so. Plus my sense of taste and smell have gone completely. I sometimes think I can maybe discern some flavours, but it is fleeting at best. Hopefully it will return in a few weeks, as it does in the majority of cases. It's frustrating, as it completely removes enjoyment of food.

Good! It will both protect you and help end the pandemic.

Yes, it's very depressing. Also a safety risk as you can't smell when food is off, or smoke if there's a fire, etc. I found it came back fleetingly. Oddly the first thing to come back was the smell of black pudding frying. For a couple of weeks I would get a faint whiff of the smell of a peeled tangerine, but only for a moment, as if once the few smell receptors had fired that was the end of the signal until they recharged. Garlic and coffee took a surprisingly long time to come back. Last of all to return was red fruit. So no red wine for a couple of months. I was delighted to realise I could smell a neighbour's bonfire that had got out of control. And then I was so overcome to smell the perfume worn by a woman at the fruit stall that I had to ask her what it was: Chloe - which turned out to be her name, too. It was a surprisingly emotional experience to realise it had all come back again.

Meanwhile I discovered a kind of pasta called spirali, which have at least a pleasing chewy texture to make up a bit for what you can't taste.

Anyway good luck, and if you are fully jabbed up I'm sure it will come back. Even my 93yr old father survived it without a trip to hospital, thanks to the vaccines.

P.S. But if you find you start speaking with a Sith Ifrican eccent, you'd better let the authorities know.

Do you think there's a chance that the vaccine is causing injuries and deaths?

If you think that doctor is wrong, you should be able to give a rebuttal to what she says.

My only side effect from having 3 jabs, 1 Bali, 2 Australia, is the microwave going DING when I walk close to it

I put it down to the 5G implants, not sure if the Bali or Australian

people are attempting to whip up chaos to make money off panicking sheep
so they want to make it more confused
    less science
more religious ideology where they control peoples free will & choices & tell them how to vote & where to spend their money.

    there is always freaky shit
look at all the disclaimers on all the existing drugs
they list just about everything to avoid being sued by someone

    there is "science"
    and
    there is "bullshit"

    if you want the science
you have to choose to not want the bullshit

most people choose the bullshit & easy fast money & make a run for it knowing others will die & they are not going to look at them dying so they wont feel guilty

    like the womens contraceptive pill
    for an easy example
1 type which is the only one that works on some women
... once used for more than a certain number of years continuously
    lets say 10
creates an almost 100% infertility in a set % of patients(women obviously)
    Doctors know this OBVIOUSLY
which is why they prescribe a change in pill types every few years
there are women who have been unknowingly sterilized without their consent from taking the contraceptive pill for too long

thats just the way it is
most people choose the bullshit & start to think about how much money they could make by playing the victim
but no amount of money will make the women fertile again

so what possible good can come of suing for tens of millions to punish a company that make billions
    it wont hurt them
its the regulations that then get made after it all goes quiet & then the insurance companies re-write things
    thats when the changes occur

    "greed" is the primary driver
not human rights equal rights & equal moral regulations

    look at voltaren
    for another example

then look at nuraphen for women
different additives to make tweaks in its absorption etc
Women suffer from period pain & migraines, men dont(generically speaking)

so it is a cost of being a woman which interferes with their ability to do their job

all physiology's are uniquely different in some way
    so all drugs work differently
but some mostly work the same
    vaccines are no different
some womens period pains cant be managed with some drugs
some peoples immune system cant be managed with the same vaccine

    follow the science
not the greedy selfish bullshit sheep

    everything is a risk
& a lot of people are lazy ignorant & selfish & dont want to study & learn

if you see a flock of birds circling your local cell phone tower.
you know to rush home & put the oven on & get a carry bag & butterfly net

    roger roger

im feeling a bit rubbish so im going to wait to get my 2nd jab
still waiting on an infection to die down & will probably get another xray in a couple of weeks

i dont want to over cook my immune system with the 2nd dose
even though i realise im probably losing single digit efficacy cover by each few days i delay past optimum
yet im not sure what the new data optimum is
i cant be bothered trying to find it(or calculate it from existing public data)

had a massive jaw infection for over a month which im still getting repaired

i am happy to choose to wait a couple of weeks & potentially lose maybe 10% total coverage in exchange for a better over all health outcome should i react to the 2nd dose because of existing infection which might drag my immune system down a little too much as im still fighting the infection

Sure. So far one version of the vaccine (the J+J) MAY be linked to four deaths due to blood clots. That's all they've found. Out of over 200 million vaccinated Americans.

Meanwhile, COVID has killed at least 800,000 Americans.

What's the smart thing to do?
