Mine is a 12 dollar dual kitchen-timer loud enuff to wake the dead Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! In the product reviews… some returned it cause it was so loud… an another said… why in Gods name does it need to make this hideous racket even when you touch the buttons to set the clock… LOL.!!!
I'm not a great one for gadgets and I'm not sure if these qualify, but the recently bought kitchen equipment I am most pleased with are a pair of Masterclass cake tins and a cooling rack. These are heavy duty, thick metal and have a non-stick coating. The tins turn out perfect, evenly risen cakes every time, far better than the domed efforts many people end up with. The rack is easy to clean and the non-stick surface of the grid makes it easy to move the cooling cakes about on it without sticking. I'm also very happy with the Screwpull lever action corkscrew that I have used for about twenty years now. It works well for everything, except very old and crumbly corks, e.g. as found with vintage port, for which a manual corkscrew, used gently, remains the best option.
Instant Pot Max. Sure it's a company looking for money but with 15 psi you can make lentils without soaking them overnight!
Everybody's thinking of food? That's a very healthy sign! Mine are cooking tongs. I never had one until about four years ago when I watched contestants in a TV cooking show use them. Next time out shopping, I bought a pair, and have three more - wide, long and blunt - since them. Can't imagine doing without them anymore.
Pressure Cook... Saute... Rice... Slow cook... Canning... The gadgets that have sparked my interest most recently have been tensegrity structures. For example, try googling "tensegrity table". The illusion of anti-gravity appeals to me. I think I might also start playing with some hexaflexagons again, if I can find the time. My kids might like them.
O crap... now i have 2 more thangs to add to my 2-do list Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

I was thinking the same thing - low tech "robotic fingers" for things you don't want to touch with your human fingers.

Ah... takes me back to when i was about 4 an mom was makin a layered chocolate cake wit chocolate icin for a nabors birthday party... an she was just startin to ice it but then had to run to the nabors house for somptin... an i was settin on the counter right beside the cake an mom very clearly said... dont touch the cake... an by the time she got back i was eatin a handful of cake right out of the top center... an when she saw what i had done she raised up her arms an slapped 'em aganst her sides an then filled the hole up wit icin... LOL.!!! PS::: Chocolate cake wit chocolate icin is still my favorite Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Latest "gadget" since this turned into a cooking thread is probably my chef knife. So damn sharp the onions cry when I pick it up. Have had it for a month and I still haven't had to sharpen it.
