I'm asking because I was able to get this one:

That you linked earlier down to 45kb:

Using the link I posted above.

    47.67 kib

See if that works? You can resize it and keep trying on that site as well Wegs.. and keep trying to post it in your profile until you find the size that this site allows, I guess?

Hey it worked, Bells - but I think if some gifs aren't ''meant'' to be smaller, then the quality is sacrificed. (blurry and not as clear - the larger butterfly gif above)

Thanks for your help! That site is a great find.

To answer your question, Bells - 97.7 kb seems to be the max.

Hmm.. The shrunk down gifs worked last night before I went to bed. Simply reposting them didn't save them to this page.

I'd imagine they would continue to work if you saved it to your computer or account, like your current gif is Wegs. As that is still working.

Wow, this thread made me go back and search my old CDs for an old Microsoft animated gif maker app.

From 1997 and it works on Windows 10.

It's seems to be no more available on the Microsoft store site.

Would anyone like a bite of Seattle's apple.

With respect to making your own animated gifs, I also use RIOT to reduce the number of bytes per each frame. Resulting in better quality than a bulk kilobyte resizer (though that likely won't be a problem when using the latter if the images are simple in detail).

Problem is, like a lot of free apps, RIOT deposits a certain aspect of OpenCandy to pay for itself, so you have to run a Malwarebytes scan, after installing it, to remove that.

The "other forum" has a 150kb limit, allowing much longer animated gifs. Years ago, Sciforums had far, far less than the current 97.7 kb limit. Very crippling at the time.

Thanks, CC - I made another one after the last one I had (of a “hatching” butterfly) ...more of a series of pics flashing, but upon resizing it to reach the site’s parameters, it was just too blurry. I’ll try these other sites to see if there’s a difference in the details.
