To be fair, everybody should be exercising increased caution when travelling to any other country at the moment, due to Covid-19.

I don't really see the need of a special warning for NZ, but then again this sounds to me like it's a general warning from the government, a bit like the Australian government travel advice issued for all countries. It's not a Trump tweet (is it?).

Is Level 2 a low level or a high level, compared to other countries? Did you check?

    Was Trump even involved?

Possibly you're unaware that New Zealand is attempting not just to control Covid-19 cases, but to eliminate Covid-19 from the country. Elimination is a different strategy than containment. Read up on it.

Of course, so why does the USA/Trump administration have both Macau and Taiwan on level 1? level 1 being normal travel precautions. Both pretty close to China, are they not?
Exactly with regards to the first sentence. A return question, considering that NZ had not had a case for more then a 100 days on this release, why the normal travel level [essentially no warning] for Macau and Taiwan? Yes our givernment has it correct imo, increase precautions for travel anywhere in general.
Exercise Increased Caution, yet at the time of release, NZ had not had a case for more then a 100 days.

Seems to me to be more politically motivated then on medical advice. Is that sufficient?

    cash, money & tax haven

strategic location partner and trade gate way(consumer market access)

    additionally
both are small and easily contained and have a very high income to person rate so they can both afford high level health care
equally they both will share a similar risk bracket to high risk group where high level of health care vastly diminishes the death rate and thus alters the perceptual global perception
perceptual impact to negative trade impact globally

one could speculate that both could equally be his bank manager(ability to influence large amounts of trade)

    its not a mystery

both countries(Taiwan & Macau) can easily quarantine Americans as soon as they land and do so fairly easily without them stopping engaging in trade deals

    etc etc ...
    no conspiracy there just money

that said, on a risk based analysis
when you have large groupings of very wealthy people
they tend to directly go to great lengths to avoid things like customs checks for viruses & diseases(customs).
equal valuation is they may have a fairly small circle of spread should they bring it in and while they may deliberately lie about contact tracing, the spread will be smaller and they are likely to spend their own money to combat the virus, rather than risk being publicly outed as
Typhoid Mary the Plague Bringer(socially it would be almost as bad as being questioned as an accidental baby poisoner)

If Trump is worried about NZ perhaps he should send out a alert for all healthy Americans to evacuate America

Where to might prove a problem

I'd have to look at the numbers of case they are having. Mere physical proximity is not necessarily a factor.

Not when you title the thread "Trump the chump" and attack him rather than whoever it was in the administration who issued the travel warning.

I'm no fan of Trump, but there's really no need to be laying blame at his doorstep for things that are only peripherally connected to him, at best. There are plenty of valid complaints you could make about things he has personally done.

    Ahem:
It's not an either/or situation. If one is valid, so is the other. Quibbling differences of degree doesn't change that.

Yep, that the exact same motive given for states/cities still doing strict lock downs in the US. The difference is that it's a useless gesture in the US.

Go ahead...I bet they are not as satisfactory as the numbers of cases in NZ at the time of release of this article.
A politically motivated decision would have Trump the Chump's greedy paws over it at some stage making it very valid.

What makes you think it was a politically motivated decision?

Didn't you know? Trump has a long-standing personal beef with New Zealand. I mean, he hates it more than Haiti, and we all know what he said about Haiti, amirite?

No one with any level of understanding of epidemics has claimed that the lockdowns in the US are to eliminate the virus. They are designed to keep infection rates under control.

Of course, despite your childish attempt to hide that with sarcasm. A small country that has achieved some success, while the criminal minded womanising meathead you have for a President continues to lie and default, simply to appease the other hillbilly red necks that voted for him.

The Donald Trump administration has rescinded its warnings to Americans against all international travel because of the coronavirus pandemic, saying conditions no longer warrant a blanket worldwide alert.

The State Department lifted its level-four health advisory for the entire world in order to return to country-specific warnings.

There's a ban on overseas travel from Australia. You can’t leave Australia unless you get an exemption from the Department of Home Affairs.

If you’re overseas and wish to return to Australia, we continue to encourage you to plan your travel home. However, be prepared for possible delays.

When you arrive in Australia you must quarantine for 14 days at designated facilities in your port of arrival. You may be required to pay for the costs of your quarantine. View individual State and Territory Government information.

Given that he is effectively CEO of USA Inc, it's no different than laying Facebook's blunders at the feet of Zuckerberg, or Amazon's blunders at Bezos's feet. Trump is leader of the administration, is he not? Does the buck not stop with him? If his administration &£#@ up, is he not ultimately responsible?

Very little done by Trump's administration is "only peripherally" connected to him - and even less in the arena of foreign policy, an arena that impinges on his military and business dealings.

American presidents have much more direct power and influence over foreign policy than domestic - one reason they tend to start wars, run around hobnobbing with foreign potentates, etc.

Also, the strongman in a fascist administration normally dominates decisions and policies at all levels. That's one reason so much doesn't get done under fascism - one man can extend his influence only so far.
