You can find instruction manuals on the interwebs. Type the same details you gave into google. It looks like it could be a good one. Not the sort of thing people usually throw away.
I have no experience with the scope. First thing to do is see if you can see anything during the day. Point it at something well in the distance and turn the focuser knob until you can see something..or not. Probably will have a power cord and a "hand paddle", which is to control it. I think it will need a 12 volt supply no more than three amps..but check the manual. Main thing is see if you can get a light in the small screen on the hand paddle..if there is a light then... see if you can make it move using the arrow keys on the hand paddle. However the hand paddle may not work and I don't think you can get one..it's a 497 I think ..one of my mounts had one, it broke and I could not find a replacement. However you can probably move it manually if there are clutches by which you can disengaged the drive motors. Should be good for Moon and planet observation...are there any eye pieces? You determine its magnification by dividing it's focal length, (which may be written someplace on it or you can find out by a Google), by the focal length of the eye piece... so if the focal length is 1500 mm and your eye piece has 10 mm written on it the magnification will be 150 times...if the hand box does not work you may be able to direct wire so you can make it move...I recall they were considered a great little scope. But with it you should see the rings around Saturn and the bands on Jupiter and four of its Moons, also good for globular clusters and observing some binary stars "doubles" ..Moon observation with that scope should be rather good...you can get an erecting "prism" which is like the "diagonal" into which the eye piece is secured but such will make the image appear upright, I am presuming it will be upside down, but then it makes an excellent terrestrial scope..bird watching etc. Alex
