i was wondering
can they pour rooting formula on the roots then put dirt on the roots(cover them) and see if it stays alive ?

other alternative might be to remove & preserve the wood and build(new foundations purpose built modern fit for tourism) a small shrine out of the trees wood

The 40-meter-tall tree ... a circumference of 11 meters.

There is, most likely, up to 160,000 bd ft(board feet) of lumber in that tree
average stick built house of 2000 sq ft would require 1/10 that amount.

useable bd ft is another matter
even if only 60% is useable
that's enough to build a 12,000 sq foot mansion

They could also offer some of the wood to the sword masters to have turned into stands(etc) & have a wood carver make a miniature replica of the tree & temple[from pictures]& gift it to the emperors family.

 

They could burn it and keep the emperor's family warm all winter!
