In my opinion the image of a BH, wins hands down, and adds further confirmation to the more then a dozen discoveries of gravitational radiation, from colliding BH's, of their certainty.

Black Hole Image Makes History; NASA Telescopes Coordinated Observations

A black hole and its shadow have been captured in an image for the first time, a historic feat by an international network of radio telescopes called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). EHT is an international collaboration whose support in the U.S. includes the National Science Foundation.

I find it extrodinary that such a feat can be accomplished.
I cant fathom how they could get the resolution needed .
Yet they pulled it off..great work.

The following explanation is as good as any I have seen, and actually made before the event.....

Is it an optical illusion or is the black hole behaving in a dynamic manner, in this clip.

I can also see high energy jets streaming out .

Yes, that is a fairly common observation among many Quasars and AGN. To our best knowledge it is matter that has been flung around, along with spacetime in the immediate vicinity the [Lense Thirring effect or frame dragging] BH's EH. If the BH has a magnetic component then the magnetic field lines are also coiled around with spacetime and flung up and outwards, taking much of the matter and stellar debris with it. Nothing has exited the BH, it is matter before that critical moment from which nothing will escape, ignoring any concept of Hawking Radiation.

There are four BH solutions as detailed by GR.....The common garden variety called the Schwarzchild BH....The next one called the Kerr BH or one with angular momentum [which all by necessity should have after formation and conservation of angular momentum ] the Kerr-Newman solution, or a BH with charge and angular momentum. The last is called the Reissner-Nordstrom solution, or a non rotating BH with a magnetic/electric component.
Over relatively short time frames, BH's will lose their magnetic/electric component and over longer times angular momentum also to become the common garden Schwarzchild variety.

It's great to be discussing science [cosmology] rather then dealing with religious and creationist fundamentalists Alex, as well of course other nutty varieties that infest science forums.

Yes I agree..I need to stop wasting my time with religion..it's pretty clear cut gods are a human invention for folk who are scared that their lives are not as important as they want to think. I once only came here basically to read the science news that you mainly provide but could not help being reeled in by the religious trolls ...
    Thanks again for the video.
