Too many threads on the same topic are sprouting up - would be nice if they could all be under one thread. I think the master thread should be the one QQ started.

Sorry to disagree, Wegs. The issue is way to big to confine to one single thread. There are many approaches that other members may wish to take.
    For example:
How to survive COVID-19 Tips on personal prevention
How to help Medical personnel do their job.
How to assist a sick person in self quarantine in a crowded household.
    etc...
I started the thread you mentioned early days because there needed to be an anchor data recording thread as I felt that the virus was going to be really bad globally. I felt we needed a thread "for the record" to log key dates and times etc.
It has evolved since of course, as has the problem of COVID-19
Most members are now enduring serious hardship because of this Pandemic and allowing them to express them selves may be cathartic and good therapy and enhance the ability to share any local or international knowledge they may have picked up.

Perhaps site management may consider the establishment of a sub-forum that all these threads could be transferred to. It is after all the greatest threat the contemporary world has ever faced and over the next 3 months or so many members will no doubt wish to post something...

Good points! I love the sub forum idea designated for COVID19 issues.

I hate to disagree with Wegs but, in the larger scheme of things it's not important how many threads there are here on Sciforums. There's hardly any traffic on here in the first place so multiple threads is the least of "our" problems IMO.

There is plenty of time to adjust if the forum needs to. The traffic issue may actually get a boost once people have hunkered down for a while and are looking for something to do...Social media has it's limitations and where else can you go for intelligent discussion... lol

lmao! You're obsessed with this site's traffic. That made me smile.

It's not the traffic that I really care about. It's the absurdity of certain small sites (this one included) for over-moderation in general when they have almost no traffic to begin with.

It's the authoritarian nature of over-moderation that plagues some small sites that I'm "obsessed" over. I'm always reminded of the "soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld when over-moderation occurs.

That's not to say that your suggestion to combine threads was absurd, it was not.

You owe gratitude to the nice moderators who let you slide on behavior that has no business on any forum, however small, outside of 4-chan or the like.
