The increase in CO2 is not a "cherry-picked trend", and its effects are not merely trends in data or short term statistical correlations - they are the observed products of well-established and theoretically consistent physical mechanisms.

If the warming stops happening - or even stops accelerating - that will require explanation (as in the "plateau" of recent years, discovered to have been an artifact of measurement techniques for ocean water). AGW is the default, normative, expected state of affairs from now on until the CO2 concentration is actually and absolutely lowered enough to stop causing it.

just to be clear, because it's painfully obvious that you didn't read what I wrote, I absolutely agree and I didn't state otherwise.

The warning was the home page site warning about manipulating the temperature trends to say what you want them to say, like taking a three to five-year plateau and extrapolating that it's not warming because the cherry-picked result shows otherwise (which I've actually seen people do multiple times elsewhere using woodfortrees)

Well this is shit. Global warming is good for the economy (short term) because oil and natural gas is profitable.

    Older video.

    thats a very good documentary
a bit type cast with the sudden change from frenetic noise to sudden quiet, but the Reporter/Presenter/Producer delivers it very evenly.
his voice reminds me a little bit of honey badger lol

while 30% shout & demand there is no such thing as climate change, while another 30% have no interest the 20% left trying to promote action are watching 1.87% of the population do something.

They should build a beauty therapy hotel
10,000 year old water, therapy etc ...

slushy ice cold pools with saunas

Husky Cafe (animal cafe is where tame animals walk around & people can sit drink & interact with animals, (very good for anxiety disorders and slowing the heart rate & creating mental de-stress-time out)

when the poles melt they will raise the sea level by 60 meters.

who will be laughing then ? the climate change denier leaders ?
(they wont be alive...[they preach keeping it real] so they hope, but what will the citizens do to their grandchildren?[keeping it real])

only way to make plastic is with oil
most plastic which drives the global economy is unable to be replaced with anything non oil based.

2 big industrys both filled with massive issues
    usa health industry plastic use
    food industry plastic use

the food industry has already started pushing back from the customer end

the usa health industry doesn't dare publicize the issue because they are currently charging about 500% to 600% more for the same treatment as other 1st world countrys are.

the usa health system is set up like a huge ponsy scheme leveraged against a plethora of different companys making profits of the single patient leveraging against an insurance policy
    it is fake user pays

instead of supporting things like the affordable care act to create slow change over the long term to assist transition...
the tin-foil-hat sociopaths are rallying against it.
and they are wasting massive amounts of plastic and oil which is all being subsidized.
PONSY ! being played as pretend capitalist user pays consumerism.

I think the global clients mate alarmists will continue to use all the materials that they deem bad for the planet. Even if they do buy an electric car, the raw materials didn't magically appear and the roads that they will continue to drive on will still contain tar.

They will continue the use products that have been welded (the welding process produces climate gases) and their intensity to push the doom and gloom will intensify.

They will continue to be oblivious to the fact that they use electric from coal powered stations and renewables will not save the planet.

Simply, they will continually push their climate conspiracy and shout down those who won't jump on board.

the absolutely hilarious thing about your conspiracy comment is that there is objective, validated evidence proving a conspiracy to undermine global warming science yet there has never been a shred of evidence to support a global AGW conspiracy where all these scientists are getting [insert whatever compensation or scheme claim here]

yes, those who push for action to change the situation use existing stuff made from non-green sources... of course, that is also the point of their activism (well, for most, anyway). There is little funding for the research (and certain national budgets have been cut in this area), there is well-funded activism against science using fearmongering and misinformation, and there is a lack of scientific literacy in the general population leading to problems within the communities where the fearmongering and misinformation directly attacks their beliefs or situation in some way (standard of living, religion, etc)

Out here they mostly contain concrete.
"And they will keep BREATHING! Breathing releases CO2 you know. Why don't you hold your breath and DIE?"

Which is, sadly, about the level of discourse you are capable of.
    Solar electric will help.
No need. People need only look out their window to see the reality of AGW. That's why the deniers will lose in the end.

    Delay is victory, for them.
It's not an argument - it's a struggle for money and power.
    - - - - -
They have been focused on the bad effects of using coal to produce electricity for many years now - apparently, they did not shout loudly enough for you to hear them. Should they shout louder, or are you now willing to hear what they say without shouting?

Meanwhile, saving the planet is not on the agenda. The planet will be ok - it doesn't care whether it's fit for humans or not. The fate of the humans on it, however, depends critically on the rate at which the CO2 boost changes the climate and ocean chemistry - anything that reduces that rate, slows down the changes in climate and ocean chemistry, will reduce the severity of their effects and help the humans adjust (along with everything else). This will be especially important if anything else - such as a large volcano or medium size meteor strike or bad war - strains our resources and capabilities.
It's good that you recognize the role of shouting and shouting down. Now you can learn by observing who is shouting, and who is being shouted down, in the US.

It's sort of funny in a sick sort of way.
I mentioned that here in Australia we wont have a fire season in a couple of years. Why? Because everything that can burn has already burned.

Never in my entire life time have is been this bad by many orders. Right now we await a huge heat wave with hundreds of huge fires burning out of control around the country, including right on Sydney's door step.
It's no longer time for people to play games with conspiracy theories.

i think the citizens have turned into sheople mode and are ignoring the reality of the danger
because most sheople eat main stream tend for main coarse they get trend burn out of types of disasters

i guess we will find out soon enough
i can almost hear them crying "but you never told us to take it really REALLY serious".

politicians will be playing duck n cover to avoid being blamed for inaction and lack of planning

i am quite impressed with the systems i have seen on tv (the look of the command centre and the sound of some managers comments)
however, ticket clipping is not the way to counter asymmetrical public disasters

i am wondering if someone in leadership has pulled the purse strings shut

There is no doubt in my mind that the CFA, MFB, command structures and systems are state of the art, funded on low budgets but sustained with a passion.
The deserve the highest praise for their efforts and the efforts of the professional and volunteer men and women on the ground but they are exhausted from weeks of fire fighting.
As they are pointing out and suggesting over and over again there is a limit to how well we can manage these multiple fire fronts simultaneously.
The Summer season has only just started, the all time record national max temperature was exceeded by 0.6 C yesterday and will probably be exceeded again in the next 48 hours.
100's of major and dangerous fires are burning with conditions deteriorating by the hour.
The Government needs to put some effort into planning and coordinating evacuation shelters and short to medium term accommodation.
The air quality in Sydney was apparently up to 12 times the max. This means that millions of people are exposed to extreme air quality issues for extended periods. Not good. The consequences need to be planned for.. etc.. . Today it was Canberra's ( capital city) turn.

The recent Spring has been the driest on record.
Water restrictions may not be enough. The gov needs to plan for importing water and desalination plants etc

With the Federal Government wringing it's hands, worried about economic impacts of reducing CO2 outputs, the effect of those outputs is really starting to bite and whats more it has all the indications of accelerating so that this time next year could be completely unrecognizable and totally catastrophic.

    Australasian Logistics company ...
their administrator said they were going to go to the sunshine coast or gold coast for xmass and new years
i asked if they were going to fly into the middle of a Forrest fire and be breathing toxic smoke for their holidays
they didn't know what i was taking about
to their credit they are young
i explained roughly the fire situation and that they may be about to arrive on holiday into a state of emergency zone.

gold coast/east coast tourism is going to be punished this season
smashed all over the park(cricket expression) at their own cost(they will be paying out for guests instead of taking profit)

    ...

will the economy be bleeding money
or will it be making money ?
now is when that is decided

Now, come to Australia - you will have to bring a mask as the air is basically not fit to be breathed in at the moment..

But come to Australia, where rainforests are now arid enough that they are burning, it is now so hot (record breaking temperatures) that birds are falling out of trees dead and the bushfire season started in the middle of winter, during a heatwave (our second heatwave in the middle of winter for us) - that's right - in the middle of winter..

And then we can have a chat about your conspiracy theory...

holy [bleep] on a [bleep] sandwich!

can you cite some references, please? I hadn't realised it was getting that bad down under!
    thanks in advance

    but wait there is more....!!!
Speaking for Victoria. ( the other states have it much worse off - except Tasmania which is a special case)
It is now December. Our high end, hot season in Victoria, typically starts mid to late January and early February.
It was 44.3 C 6pm S/E Melbourne a few days ago. If the "peak heat" trend continues there wont be a bird in the trees state wide, by the time we get to March 2020. ( that's of course if there are any trees left....(conflated slightly))

The long term average for Melbourne for the last seven days is typically estimated to be around 24.2 C

One wonders what animal (including insects) population will be existent by this time next year...

Now as you well know these animals have existed for millions of years, until now they managed to to survive through some pretty hot dry times, but what is happening recently and most likely going to happen is that they will not go on surviving. Mass extinction next year or the one after is very possible. I get the impression that many people think we have 30 odd years to solve the problem but this is a delusion. Waiting 30 or 50 years before we do anything about AGW is absurd.

who is a true libertarian ?

see the news about that chilian town...

with Brazils' (democratically elected)president screaming burn-baby-burn to the people, i expect there will be an ever increasing number of entire towns burnt to the ground deliberately to land grab areas for corporates.

south American country's do not have the ability to sustain their own social welfare systems as-is.

burning down entire towns forcing the people out so they become refugees in their own country so company's can take over their land .. ?

Raging forest fires engulf Chilean city

Your lifetime in geological terms means diddly squat. Who knows, the whole of Australia could have gone up in flames a million years ago. What we witness in "our lifetime" means nothing.

Yes, move to Antarctica, it used to be a forest. Or better still, move to the Sahara, it used to be a forest. And guess what, no single human on the planet killed those forests.

I suggest you move country if you can't adapt.

    it's scarey isn't it...
knowing that a didly squat timeline is involved in a climate change that would normally take millions of years... Only 60 years instead of millions of years.... Scary indeed!
