As I was going up the stair
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today!
I wish, I wish he go away.

You are better off if you reply to yourself to ensure you receive sensible answers

lololol @ members having 16+ people on ignore (according to the poll)

No one on ignore right now, but I have done that when I've received weird pm's, because it can prevent that member from pm'ing. So, for that, it's a good thing.

Great is the power of IGNORE. But you don't have to put someone on ignore to achieve that, you just have to be able to not reply.

It's funny for most of my time here I've had no one on ignore. A while back I decided to try to make this site more "mainstream" so I put about 10 people on ignore and left the nonsense

subforums out and set up a "watched forums" list.

It makes this forum more viewable. I didn't put anyone on ignore because of their language or that kind of thing. There are just some people who never make a reasonable post (it's just not their thing). There are some people who take any subject and make it a 50 page debate between them and one other person.

So I just eliminated all that. It made this forum a lot more enjoyable and it didn't eliminate anyone who just had an opposing view. It's just eliminated most of the cranks.

This site’s ignore feature is pretty great, I have to say. On some sites, a line will show “you’re ignoring ...” but that doesn’t show here. There’s an option at the bottom of each thread “read ignored content,” or something like that. It’s helpful but meh, I don’t put anyone on ignore, now.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Would you care to tell us more about why you find such behavior worth silencing?

No idea of your reading pattern

    I read a lot

I am also a dummy spitter with a 3 Ping Pong rule. If your replies are not up to my standards, which are somewhat flexible, I give the person warning, why I don't know. But I will request some sort of reasonable response to a question pertaining to the thread

Fail to suitibly respond, goes on Iggy

Think have 40? on Iggy. Sure cuts down my reading time

Read ignored content - might have used once in about 2 years

If they are on Iggy it's for my good reason. Judging by the response to many of them (some name them in the text of their reply which is obviously outside of the quote region) so I can identify them, I am surprised they have not been Iggied into oblivion

    Edit

    behavior worth silencing

They are not silenced in the thread except on a individual basis. I guess if 100% of others have on Iggy or banned they would be

No, I don't care to prolong that topic but I'm not "silencing" them. I'm just not reading it.

I've just started to use the ignore feature (again) recently, and it's pretty awesome. Too bad there isn't a hand held device that is comparable for offline life, when if someone is bloviating in my vicinity, I can ''put'' them on ignore. Maybe some day...

    "ArkAngel" - Black Mirror - Season 4 Ep 2.

People whom you (or your parents) deem stressful to you, are "blocked" - visually, they are a blurred sillouette, and acoustically, they are muted.

I've stopped watching that series, but this sounds intriguing.

It might make me sad though, when I come back to reality...my hopes dashed for the future. Yearning for something that will never be.

That would be bad ass, stressful people around us become 'muted.' lol

Does it mute them? or up your ability to go into a selective daze?

Years ago when Bali was really busy you need to be in a selective daze to ignore all the traders

Today it is a lot quieter and many traders have their own personal ignore device

Called a mobile phone. It allows tourist to browse the goods quietly while traders are busy with this miracle device

That feeling when...you have someone on ignore but they ''liked'' a post of yours.
