Went to meet some friends for dinner earlier, at a restaurant near an outdoor mall. Walked around for a bit, and stumbled into a shop named The Bodhi Tree. This store features crystals, necklaces, books and other items that are ''perfect for spiritual masters and those who are seeking.'' Hmm.

They had something called a ''ritual box,'' and ''ceremonial candles,'' to assist with your spiritual activities.

Had an earthy, pantheist vibe to it, definitely piqued my interest. The Bodhi tree is a fig tree native to India and Southeast Asia, regarded as sacred by Buddhists.

lots of metal ore can cause earthly feelings
    or highly anti-static field
generally mall ambience is designed to remove clocks, time & add a light careless attitude to help activate impulse spending.

having a poor balance between a de-focusing mall & a neutralizing field 'shop' can leave people feeling a bit 'worked-over' resulting in them being less likely to spend money and feel more manipulated.

specially if there is overt animalism right beside the shop(like people eating meat or animal skins etc...)

I'm proud of myself for not caving into purchasing anything, but I hear ya. I have a friend who is into Wicca, and her beliefs are interesting. It's all about nature and balance, but there are many who get into the witchcraft side of it.

Ya know, I didn't see any of those. Sooo, I take it you don't believe in chakras and all that?

Odd. The Bohdi Tree has a secure https site, but no public website.

I wonder if it is on the borderlands of the Dark Web...

It might just be a small regional shop, it has a few locations, though. Never heard of it before today.

There's an online shop, not sure if they're affiliated. www.bodhitree.com

For all your woo desires. I'd consider this woo.

I don't know how I would get though life's down points without my crystals and their associated chakras. It's all so spiritual!

Tinfoil hats are good to use outdoors for keeping the sun off and have the added benefit (Pascal's Wager) that if they don't work, what does it harm, and if they do work...nirvana!

Is the South moving from religion to woo in large numbers? I'm guessing probably not?

Crystals are aesthetic, so maybe that's why they're alluring. lol

Ah, someone who reads what I post.

You might not (let me know). Once you've turned into a witch you might not be so free to converse with the other side.

Walk into a "rock shop" if you ever encounter one. It has all the appeal of a Woo shop with none of the Woo.

I took Geology in college for my "science" requirement. I still like identifying rocks and minerals.

I'm still surprised there aren't more cults further disguised as "religions" that weave in sex into the mix. If crystals turn people on what if "having to go to church on Sunday" involved "having to go to church where sex was incorporated in the service".

"God wants you to get to 'know' thine neighbor" "Enjoy, do it for God!".

''Turned into.'' lol Is that how it works?

It's fun, I enjoy it too. Rock identifying, not woo.

    rarity(currency value)
shiny things for the brain to create and feed new neuron development/assignment
    placebo effect (mental positive thinking)
tool history being able to be used for cutting

    there are many non-woo aspects

finally, aspects of self expression, self adornment, cultural communication forms of colours & shapes, arrangements etc...
someone being able to feel they express their own sense of self via how they appear to the outside world is a critical aspect of liberal society.

do you ever go to the opposite end of a grocery store to do your grocery shopping in the opposite direction ?
liberty & social norms often clash
i would rather have someones kids running a-muck than live in a fascist society.

I agree about that placebo effect. Whole Foods even got into it for a while, not sure if they're still pushing their woo/crystals section. Superstitious beliefs. They can be quite powerful, for many.

    I'm sure there are cults like that, but they might keep it secret? You'd convert then, eh? :=}

    All. the. time. Do you?

Some feel the US is becoming fascist because of Trump's leadership. There's shades of it, I think.

Okay, this thread is really off topic, all because of Seattle!
