Perhaps; thought processes may not necessarily be linear but could be 3 D and the processing is accomplished by "quorum sensing", a form of group treshold sensing and dynamic response function. i.e. bioluminescence. Word: Quorum Sensing

I'm sure each person has their own unique processing structure based on time and experience. We often share similar experiences but from a slightly different perspective, creating a uniquely specific process from that individuals perspective. However, from what I understand, there are shared regions in the brain which are present in all humans and would be activated only under specific conditions; pain, pleasure, curiosity, etc? I read that a single thought may require activity in as much as 100,000 neurons in the brain. This is why I find the quorum sensing ability so appealing. It appears to be a chemistry-driven dynamic communication function among vast numbers of bacteria or neurons, and most importantly, with both intra-species (self) and inter-species (others) communicaton abilities! The problem with a single neuron or bacterium is that they are much too small to have a noticeable impact on the whole. But when groups of neurons or bacteria fire simultaneously we get an expression of a specific pattern, i.e. bio-luminescence. Consider a movie screen. Projecting a single photon is unnoticeable. Project billions of photons on the screen simultaneously and we have a picture. Anil Seth suggests that our brain makes "best guesses" based on the electro-chemical responses inside the neural network of the brain. When our communal best guesses agree (quorum sensing), we call it reality. If communication and cooperation between large numbers of bacteria can create light, can communication and cooperation of large numbers of neurons create an internal holographic image? Your Huey, Dewey and Lewie have about 3 trillion combined and networked microtubules which process the biological languages and trigger genetic biological expressions, both beneficial and virulent. How many pixels in that picture, at what definition, refresh rate? And that's purely electronic. What astounds me is the variety and speeds at which a host of communication languages can be performed by the natural biological neural networks. The things that are going on and inside of us at every moment of our existence is almost unbelievable. The numbers are truly astronomical. I don't know, but I doubt it. Seems to me that inside our brain pictures form from sets of associated memories. This sometimes allow for deja vu when you are in a strange place but recognize an familiar object. Your brain will try to reconstruct its memory and you get the feeling you've been there before. It would seem to me that this would take many, many neurons, depending on the shape, size, substance of the observed objects. Bonnie Bassler specifically mentions that it takes many individuals to affect a noticeable change.
