God couldn't make this, so it evolved near water hence eggs and beak, left land became a "kind" of its own. Only evolution could create something as wrong.

There is nothing wrong with it. It's as perfect as a squirrel, an aphid or a squid.

True. We've all evolved to this point. Some are just more interesting, while some just aren't gnus.

Angel: :whips out Things to Make and Do if you're a God, flips to page 47:
"Thou shalt have beaks and eggs only for birds, never for mammals."
God: "Dang. This omnipotence thing ain't all it's cracked up to be..." :tosses platypus into bin with Echidna:

Perfection can be perfected. This makes me wonder if God could rationalize creation in a singularity. I once saw that Gods demeanor is constantly created and destroyed. If anything God created the devil (hatred, and suffering) and one day it will be dead and gone.

    Another interesting post.

What God do you believe in? You don't have to answer that if you prefer not to

It's just an unusual set of adaptations, but it works for this animal in it's environment.

Your faith in science is admirable.

It wouldn't be even if I had any. You haven't said why a platypus is "wrong". Is it because it is unlike other animals that you are familiar with?

So you have no belief in science?

Well God must be a prankster if he made this little devil up. Oh yes, it's completely unique in the animal World.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic. I'm going to assume you're not, though I may be mistaken.

How is the platypus unique? Does it defy Darwinian evolution? What does not unique look like?

Show me a picture of something anatomically or looks like a platypus, and don't go onto a sermon on evolution. Avoidance is dishonour.

What kind of argument is that?

Show me a picture of something that looks like a giraffe.
Show me a picture of something that looks like a snake.
Show me a picture of something that looks like a nudibranch.

Listen, if you want me to make you look like a complete fool I can do, but I'll avoid this stupid post.

    So, no answer then.

Show me an animal that looks somewhat like a giraffe but is not a giraffe, and I'll show you an animal that looks somewhat like a platypus but is not a platypus.

Show me a picture of a giraffe that lays eggs.

A giraffe does not lay eggs. Why would you think so?

You still haven't shown me what makes an animal not unique. What was that? Avoidance is dishonourable, or something?

But here is an Echidna - a monotreme - an egg-laying mammal.

Not sure how that's germane, but here you go.

    I Googled "Echidna eggs".

Also, not sure what we're arguing about. We both agree Platypus are the product of evolution.

It was just your logic that God couldn't have made them that I found strange. It doesn't speak to theists at all.

For those who believe in God, platypus are simply another creature. It's not like they think God has some limited set of parts he can use. The platypus is only unusual inasmuch as we are used to seeing waterfowl with beak-like mouth parts, and beavers with flat tails. But so what?

    Another lovely picture, thanks.

My argument is why God would create such a crazy animal like the platypus. Why isn't it questioned? by theists, to me it doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it. i don't believe in evolution, I have no need for it, or creation as it happens.
