Exactly. If it isn't repeatable, it isn't "compelling".

So the Big Bang, black holes, global warming, dark energy, or tornados aren't compelling? Got it.

    The observations are repeatable.

As are those of the paranormal.

    Why the sarcasm?

One's feelings and emotions, has a corresponding effect on the physical body as well as how one manages to survive and cope with life itself. Mental health is deeply connected to physical health and physical recovery after injury or surgery.

For example there's this particular type of heart attack that is directly connected to one's emotions. It's known as the Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, often referred to as the 'Broken Heart Syndrome'..

My mother had it when she got a phone call telling her that her brother had passed away suddenly.

The shock of his death, the horrific sadness and devastation triggered it. I've seen people have heart attacks. I've never seen anything like this. She slumped forward at her desk, grabbed her chest , she let out one sob and she went down. We didn't even know what she had just heard on the phone or who she was speaking to. She answered the phone, said "hello", and within 5 seconds, it happened. It can also take a long time to happen, where sadness, extreme stress and devastation triggers it..

While takotsubo cardiomyopathy can mimic a heart attack, it can also kill and people do die. If you survive the initial 'attack', you will recover. My mother survived. Her heart suffered minimal damage (thankfully).

Debbie Reynolds is thought to have died of the same thing the day after her daughter died.

So I am curious, why are you so dismissive of scientists tackling things like love, consciousness and the meaning of life when these things affect people physically?

How are observations of the paranormal repeatable? Do ghosts appear reliably? One of the reasons that eyewitness accounts are so unreliable is that the event can not be repeated. Reliable evidence tends to be in the form of tangible artefacts - e.g. fingerprints.

People repeatedly see ghosts all the time and hear them. Often a haunted location will manifest the same phenomena to different people over time. Voices in an empty house, Footsteps in the attic. Etc.. That's how observations of the paranormal are repeatable.

But they don't manifest the same phenomena to everybody every time they look. That is not repeatability.

It's repeatable enough. Repeating eyewitness accounts is reliable evidence of a real phenomenon.

No it isn't. You can't just ignore the fact that some people observe nothing.

Some people observe a meteorite while others don't. So what? That doesn't raise doubt that the meteorite happened.

Bad example. Everybody can see the meteorite once it's on the ground.

Not when it's in the sky. It's a perfect example of people not seeing something not making any difference.

When it's in the sky it's a meteor, not a meteorite. And anybody who's looking in the right direction at the right time will see it. You can not say the same for ghosts.

PLUS, if it does become a meteorite, there is tangible evidence.

Very rarely is a meteorite found. Yet people see them all the time falling to earth.

You can get tangible evidence of the paranormal on video, audio, and moved objects. You can also get multiple eyewitnesses of it. That other people didn't see it makes no difference whatsoever.

And never is a ghost found.
That isn't tangible in the same sense that a meteorite is tangible.
Eyewitness evidence is the worst evidence there is. And don't even bother with your usual LOL denial.
On the contrary, in terms of objective evidence, what other people don't see makes all the difference.

No it doesn't. Again, people don't see meteorites but that doesn't mean the people who saw them didn't see them. People repeatedly experience paranormal phenomena at the same locations and obtain tangible evidence in the form of video, audio, and moved objects. That's just the way it is. Deal with it.

None of those are tangible. All of them are easily misinterpreted.
