What is 'some value'? That's the issue, 'infinity' has no value, it's not a number!
If you expect the canned answer of x/0= infinity, you won't hear it from me.
Infinities belong in cartoon physics.
If two point particles are bonded by an inverse square force, when in contact they would become inseparable. Where would all that binding energy come from?
A particle at the center of the earth is weightless, i.e. no infinite gravitation.
A black hole loses energy via polar jets, ditto, no infinite gravitational collapse.
The problem seems to point to the definition of inverse square rules for forces within a continuum. The continuum conflicts with what the universe shows us, discreteness.

I have no problem with limits for finite values, such as v approaching c. If limits were understood correctly, the debate of 1.000... vs .999... would end.
Math is a language and all symbolic expressions can be translated into words. Words are by definition, and subject to ambiguities, multiple interpretations, assumptions, customs, etc. The verification tool of science is measurement, and all things are not measurable.
Measurement is only possible for finite entities, which implies boundaries. If you encounter a stick with one end, (it's length is 'infinite'), how would you measure it?

Okay, but zero is a number, unlike infinity, and yet your reaction to the term, "in the limit as the radius approaches zero" was to protest that one cannot divide by zero. Perhaps you just don't like the ideas of limits?

Anyhow, I have no problem with your preferred language, "as the radius approaches zero, the force 'increases without limit’". Glad that is settled. Next.

x/0 is undefined.

The division operation is defined as the inverse of multiplication.

There is no number that, when multipled by zero, gives anything other than zero.

Therefore, x/0 has no value.


Why are we still talking about this? Does it inform the thread topic?

The first calculation produces a remainder of minus one. The next calculation is one.

Ones into zero, zero, remainder minus one.

Ones into minus ten, minus ten.

1÷0=-0.10

Zero being a tenth of one.
