If there is a God then he could have done a much better job than putting us on this messed-up and dangerous planet.

If this is all God can do then I am not impressed. If this is all God can do then he is incompetent or maybe he is even outright evil and likes to see humans suffer.

IF there is a god who created this, it may be very powerful yet must not be omnipotent and/or wise, intelligent & benevolent.

But we just don't know and we may find that in 200 years after we know more than there is a God but we just don't know because we just don't know anything and everything is possible.

You miss the previous points & seem to miss that 1.

I did not say or imply we do not know anything or that everything is possible.

So what do you think this God entity really is? Is it something mechanical like a robot? Is God more like a clockwork machine?

And do you think that this God entity can break the laws of physics and chemistry?

My best guess is there is no god. I thought we were discussing what if and/or evidence there is no omnipotent wise benevolent god.

So much for science ...ok lets pollute the science sections with religious crap.

However in an effort to guide the dicussion to a higher level lets look at this release from NASA.

NASA's Kepler Discovers First Earth-Size Planet In The Habitable Zone
Astronomers have discovered the first Earth-size planet orbiting a star in the "habitable zone" -- the range of distance from a star where liquid water might pool on the surface of an orbiting planet. The discovery of Kepler-186f confirms that planets the size of Earth exist in the habitable zone of stars other than our sun.

I think we can make a list if we actually did some research.

Some folk dont get the numbers when thinking about the possibility of other world like ours.

Saint...do you know how many stars in our gallaxy similar to our Sun?

Of course you dont!!!!..of course you would never have looked into the matter...well do yourself a favour and find out...I wont spoil it for you just google...how many stars in our gallaxy...or how many Sun like stars in our gallaxy.

Then google ..how many galaxies in the local group then see if you can work out how many Suns and therefore possible planets are in the local group.

Now heres another for you... google ...how many galaxies in the observable universe. ... then see if you can make a ruff determination of the number of stars in the universe and maybe wonder how many may be similar to our Sun and just what the numbers offer in terms of opportunity for other Earth like planets.

Of course you could simply ignore the numbers and hang onto your superstitious out dated and hopelessly unrealistic reliance upon bronze age folk to tell you about astronomy.

Your choice of course but you do know bronze age folk thought stars were so small such that in Revelations the prophesy was the stars would fall upon the ground...I would like to see our Sun or similar fall on the ground...from a great distance...stars are many times larger than the Earth and that prophesy underlines how ignorant bronze age folk were of the universe.
They did not even know where the Sun went at night...I suggest they can not be relied upon to explain astronomy as they had absolutely no idea.

The chances are that there are billions of planets similar to Earth ... and why would that not be the case as we are not that special so why would there be only one Earth...oh because the good book suggest such...its not reliable in spite of the protests of believers...stars dont fall on the ground for example...please keep your faith but at least start living and learning as if you live in the modern world and time...if there is a God he would not want you to be stupid..why do we now know these things...clearly your God wants you to know and be more knowledgable than folk from the bronze age...

    So what do you think.

Sure we have 1 data point of existing life

Please don't dismiss the findings of the ingredients of life
    Numerous planets
The age of existence of the ingredients along with age of planets

I would contend looking at the birth of our life I would play the numbers and bet (I understand NOT science) other life exist out there

Probably also that they saw meteors flashing thru the sky & thought they were stars. Even now many people call meteors falling stars.

Maybe that is what the prophesy refers to...so we can using science look forward to see when we will encounter a meteor shower that will have stuff big enough not to burn up and land on the Earth to comply with the prophesy...

Saint you need to get some planitarium software and work out when the end days are to come...you will let me know wont you.

No evidence of a god that specifically created ANY Earth.

Are you saying only Earth style life (all versions of Earth life types) can be THE only type which can exist?

I would contend the shear range of Earth styles of life would increase the odds of other life forms existing on other planets formed by physics (not god)

Physics creating a planet available for any life form able to take advantage of the conditions

Got give props to outright ignorance when it's so proud. When we do find a second Earth will that disprove God's existence for OP? We've hardly been looking any time at all on the cosmic scale.

If we find other planets suitable for humans, theists will then claim that as proof of god.
Probably even more so if we find any that are better than Earth.

Yeah, the same ones that claim just about anything is a "sign".

I'm trying to imagine how a planet could be "better" for humans than Earth.

I guess, temperate climate over a larger area - fewer inhospitable deserts or tundras?
    Fewer hurricanes?
Lower gravity, so we don't break a wrist falling down?
    No mosquitoes?
