Oh, well ... Okay, so I went through this, myself, a while ago. I actually hate the Reply function, and have forced myself to use it these last couple years. But, no, I effin' hate it. Anyway, what's happening is that someone is doing the smart, easy thing, just copying and pasting the text, and using the tag format quote=(name). It's an old way of writing posts from times when people had more substantial discussions. With all the one-lining, though, the Reply function works well enough for some. If I use the reply function, it will generate an alert: If I just indicate you, "quote=someguy1" in the tag, the system will not generate an alert: The whole purpose of that function is to regulate the order and manner in which you communicate; the Reply function discourages longer, more complex post structures.
