Has anyone asked Donald if he would like to resign?

My father was a great family man. He knew how to do it right. Would he have been a good president? No. He had neither the knowledge nor the skills to do that job well.

Same thing with Donald. He strikes me as someone who was put into a position for which he was ill suited. Donald has skills, and using those skills he does well. He's happy doing what he does well, and like anyone else he needs to enjoy his life as much as possible. To ask a person to do a job for which they are not well suited is unfair to him and everyone else.

I wouldn't want my family member to be in such a position to be the butt of jokes, ridicule, and investigations of the masses for their own selfish purposes. Not for one day. He has not backed out. He (maybe) has done his best. He has had to be tough to endure this public scrutiny, but at last it does neither him nor anyone else the good that the position is designed to do.

I say respect him enough to allow him to leave gracefully. That may require the writing of legislation. While he may say that he wants to be president for life, at least give him the option of doing other things. Give (us) the option to repair the damage as soon as possible with or without his consent. Meaning, the consent of the President.

Second, don't do away with the electorate. The electorate within months should have been able to say, Maybe Donald was the wrong choice. Knowing that Donald has the wrong knowledge and experience for the job, and neither admitting it or being able to correct it is failure. Fix the electorate so that it thoroughly serves it's purpose - to choose the best person to serve as a leader of statespersons, and to relieve and replace that person should the need arise.

The electorate might be a function that could remove the president for cause without penalty or compromise to the individual at any time. Something like that should be available short of prosecution and removal. Also, the vice-president shouldn't be the only possibility for replacement, because the president and vice are already tied together. There should be other recourse.

It's called impeachment. And the VP can be impeached at the same time.

Never mind the practicalities,if his team have actually colluded with foreign actors to affect the course of the last election this should be discovered and there should be consequences.

If the now sitting President was aware of (or directly involved in) these goings on this should also be known and there should again be consequences.

To short circuit the process might allow the American voters to repent at their leisure.

Someone should ask him nicely (or not so nicely) whether he can show that this did not happen

By his continuous attacks on the credibility of the Mueller (and previously Comer's) investigation he has fed the suspicion that he has something to hide.

    Reminds me of Cops:
    "I didn't do nothin'."
    "Then why did you run?"
    "Because you were chasin' me."

 I've given up on hoping it will happen.

A lot of rhetoric out there. A lot of opinions. Not a lot of action.

Still, this investigation thingy is ongoing...

Several Republican Congressmen early retired, several indictments and a few convictions, and what appears to be a remarkably rapid closing in of a very large and difficult investigation - back when Mueller took over we had legal experts predicting nothing would land in court for three to five years, as would be typical for this kind of investigation. Manafort's facing trial in a few weeks.

who put him into the job that are responsible for his actions ?

The US right were screaming out for a cowboy president, one who would shoot from the hip with policy & leadership. Donald fitted the bill to a tee.

what strikes me as truely odd is the mentality of all the hundreds of thousands of democrat voters who decided not to vote.

what were they expecting ? democracy ?

Contrary to popular belief, there is in fact no actual pee tape. There is, however, a poo tape.

Two things have happened here in Australia recently of note.
    1. Public reaffirmation of ANZUS alliance as being "rock solid" ( nothing special about that except.shortly after comes #2..)
    2. Public (televised via evening news) announcement by our Prime minister and senior government members preparing Australians for a potential military strike against Iran.
while mentioning the 5 eyes security arrangements etc...
This is extraordinary IMO as I have never seen this before from our government(s).
It seems as if the Government here is preparing us all for something they have been informed about (officially). Perhaps advanced planning, including the use of ANZUS assets ( in our Northern Territories..ie. PG) has already been undertaken and a strike upon Iran is imminent.
It appears that Trump is going to drag Australia into another ME conflict and given the tone used by our Prime Minister serious/significant influence has been applied by the USA upon our Government.(an impression)
I do hope I am wrong... but it sounds very ominous.
The sooner Trump resigns the better....

"Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has dismissed the report as “speculation”.

“The ABC, even before putting that story out, did not contact me or my office,” he told ABC radio this morning.

“They did not contact the Foreign Minister or her office, the Defence Minister or her office or the chief of the Defence Force.

“I have to say, I have no reason for believing that the story has any basis in fact.”"

Not contradicting you ,seems like an ongoing story.

He should be removed on moral grounds if nothing else. Those 88% (264 of 300) who don't seem to have a moral compass should be removed with him. Well, at least now it's out in the open for anyone to see. If that is the case, and it appears to be, it's going to be difficult to 'drain the swamp.' But one more lesson: It should be clear who is outvoting sensible legislation. It's not the ignorant. It's the selfish, but I already knew that. It would be good to see Congress show that they can accomplish the minimum, like a temperate economic system that actually serves the public good with solid infrastructure, universal health care, living wages, and a government that citizens can be proud of.

But what am I talking about? Even if somehow the government personnel system became like a pristine diamond, there would still be the stinky companies, the toxic legislation, and half of Americas finest students eligible for recruitment by crime lords who seek to expand their 'dynasty' into the future. I never want to say it looks hopeless, but digging post holes might be easier than reforming this mess. You just can't paint a rosy picture, and that's not good.

Yesterday I read the Iranian General to Trump "We will destroy everything you possess." It was not broadcast on the national network news channel that I watch. My first thought was, this is important. My second thought was that they were 'working' it into 'the late shows' anti-Trump rhetoric, but it didn't happen. It was not broadcast.

The American people know nothing of an overt threat to go to war with Iran. The last time they heard such a thing was from Bush. So the Aussies (and I'm a fan) might find themselves standing alone. The U.S. is not going to war without Congressional approval, and they aren't even talking about it.

War. You've got political hawks living in castles wanting to rain down their products on the public, so that their fellow 'statesmen' can buy more. Blood means nothing to them. For them it's shoot a bullet - buy a bullet. War is business, and business is good. I see all these kids and young adults around the world shooting weapons that cost $1000s. They didn't buy these weapons with their hard earned money. They can't afford bicycles. They don't have medicine to cure a cold, and yet they are shooting each other.

I would think that the mothers of these children would demand accountability from the people dropping the weapons, but when the people actually doing the buying and selling are the leaders of nations, it's going to be a difficult thing to turn around. Trump scored a $100B arms deal with one country this year. Yes that is $100,000,000,000.00 in arms so kids could shoot each other to death, and the old guys destroy whole cities - in just one deal. How sick and depraved are these leaders? Well it's pretty obvious the problem begins with the lack of a moral / ethical compass, and up here the compass has been broken.

Want to stop them? Take their money. That's the only thing they understand. BTW, Broadcast news in the U.S. is owned and operated by people whose primary goal is to feed product through a pipe that sells $100 cookies. The secondary goal is to support the political rhetoric of their investors. Anyone who thinks it's journalism is delusional. It's advertising from start to finish, and the public seems to be buying the lies by the box-full.

We know, we just don't take Trump seriously. There is zero chance of a war with Iran. This is Art of the Deal BS.

And on the heels of that claim, somebody pointed out that only 37% of people identify as republican. The implication being that that's only a 32% vote.
